First look of Battle of Saragarhi out

randeep-hooda-first-look-759Finally the wait is over Randeep Hooda will dawn the role of Havaldar Ishar Singh, the military commander of the 36th Sikh’s, today known as the 4th battalion of the Sikh regiment in the magnum opus. Film “BATTLE OF SARGARHI” which will be directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and is being produced by Group Chairman Raju Chadha under the banner of Wave Cinemas confirms award winning film maker producer CEO Wave Cinemas Rahul Mittra.

The Mahurat shot will be taken with Randeep at the Saragarhi Gurudwara in Amritsar on September 12th, and sources close to the unit state that Randeep will be going through extensive training and will be studying Sikh history. The film will be shot on locations of Chandigarh, Punjab other northern regions and international locations. We have signed Randeep Hooda for a 3 film deal states Mittra and Battle of Saragarhi will be the first to go on floor and the plot deals with “BATTLE OF SARGARHI” which was fought on September 12th, 1897, between the British Indian Army & The Afghan Orakzal tribesmen in North – West India, which we now know as the Khyber – Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The Indian contingent compromising 21 Sikhs of the 36th Sikhs, the 4th battalion of the Sikh Regiment was stationed at the army post when they were attacked by 10,000 Afghans led by Havaldar Ishar Singh, they fought till the last man before the post was recaptured, 2 days later, by another British Indian contingent led by Sikhs. The battle is one of history’s greatest last stands & Sikhs commemorate it every year, celebrating September 12th as Sargarhi Day.
