Sourabh Kumar, Founder and CEO of VidUnit Media Pvt. Ltd is a driving force in India’s digital transformation, leading a revolution in influencer marketing and multilingual content creation. From humble beginnings in a small town in Bihar to building a cutting-edge influencer-tech platform in Mumbai, Sourabh’s journey is one of vision, resilience, and relentless innovation.

Early Life and Academic Foundation

Born in Murli Ganj, Madhepura district, Bihar, Sourabh’s early life was rooted in rural simplicity. After completing his initial schooling in Murli Ganj and Bhagalpur, he moved to Indore to pursue his Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Media. During this time, he gained firsthand experience in broadcast journalism through internships with Star News (Sansani) and Doordarshan (Khabrein Bollywood Ki).

Drawn more toward the strategic side of media than reporting, he pursued a Master’s degree in Media Management from the University of Stirling, Scotland. After gaining international work experience in London, Sourabh returned to India in 2010 and settled in Mumbai, marking the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey.

Professional Milestones Before VidUnit

Sourabh held pivotal roles in several prominent media houses:

  • At Magna Publishing, he led the digital transition for iconic print brands like Stardust and Society.

  • At Percept, he built one of India’s largest YouTube MCNs, managing over 800 channels.

  • He later joined Alibaba Group’s UC News, where he served as Director of Content Acquisitions and Operations, helping design creator-focused video programs with ambitions of building a TikTok-like ecosystem within the UC Browser platform.

Although geopolitical restrictions eventually forced Chinese platforms out of India, the experience provided Sourabh with deep insights into the evolving creator economy—just as TikTok was gaining popularity. This convergence of experience and timing set the stage for the launch of VidUnit.

Founding VidUnit: Building India’s Multilingual Influencer Engine

In April 2018, VidUnit Media Pvt. Ltd was incorporated and began operations from Andheri West, Mumbai. What started as a niche idea has since evolved into a highly profitable, data-driven influencer platform, delivering consistent year-over-year growth in revenue and impact.

VidUnit: Empowering Creators Across 13 Languages

Sourabh’s mission was clear from day one: democratize digital opportunities for creators from smaller towns and non-metro regions. Today, VidUnit is India’s only influencer marketing platform that operates across 13 Indian languages, breaking the dominance of English and Hindi and making space for regional voices.

  • Influencers register free of cost and gain access to branded collaborations.

  • Top brands like Duolingo, Alibaba, TikTok, Storytel, Graphic India, and Dish TV have partnered with VidUnit.

  • Popular influencers onboarded include Tejasswi Prakash, Jannat Zubair, Fukra Insaan, and Dipika Kakkar.

Sourabh’s rural upbringing fuels his passion for local creator empowerment, and his team ensures that every region—be it Bhojpuri, Odia, or Tamil—is equally represented and supported.

Smart, Data-Driven Influencer Campaigns

What sets VidUnit apart is its hybrid campaign model, blending automation with human intelligence.

  1. Stage 1: AI-Powered Profiling

    • Metrics like engagement ratio, views-to-followers, and content consistency are evaluated automatically.

  2. Stage 2: Manual Human Review

    • Experts assess the creator’s content quality, comment tone, brand compatibility, and cultural relevance.

This strategy ensures that brands receive high-ROI campaigns that are tailored, authentic, and regionally resonant. VidUnit even adapted to challenges like Odia market visual preferences by establishing dedicated regional teams and processes.

Performance is measured using custom KPIs like:

  • Engagement (views, likes, comments)

  • Lead generation

  • App installs (via promo codes or trackable links)

  • Weekly performance reviews to allow agile optimization

FluVid Fest 1.0: Uniting the Creator Ecosystem

In February 2025, Sourabh and VidUnit hosted the first edition of FluVid 1.0 Fest at Sahara Star, Mumbai—a milestone celebration of India’s creator economy.

Hundreds of influencers, brand leaders, and industry veterans gathered for panel discussions, trend insights, and collaborative workshops. Attendees included:

  • Sana Sultan Khan (Bigg Boss)

  • The Shorts Break

  • Prakash Bhardwaj (The Viral Talks)

  • Shivalika Sharma

  • Amar Choudhary, and more.

“FluVid 1.0 Fest was designed to unite India’s creator community… The overwhelming response reaffirms our commitment to empowering digital talent and strengthening brand‑influencer partnerships. This is just the beginning—we plan to make it an annual landmark event.”
