A Celestial Saga at SIDT’s Annual Fashion Event ENCHANTÉ 2022

Mumbai, 16 Sept 2022: Sasmira’s Institute of Design and Textile (SIDT) showcased yet another astounding Annual Fashion Event – Enchanté 2022 – the graduating show of SIDT students. The central theme for the show was ‘‘A Celestial Saga’’ and was held on 15th September at SASMIRA, Worli, Mumbai.

Dr. Keyurkumar Nayak, Director of University of Mumbai’s – GICED, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, encouraging the students for their endeavors. Guest of Honors Mr. Tehmasp Printer – Managing Director, IGI, & Ms. Meera Tenguria- Founder, The Academy of Sustainability, along with Mr. Mihir Mehta –President, SASMIRA, as well as Mrs. Smita Yeole – Vice President, SASMIRA, greeted the audience & greatly appreciated the efforts of team SIDT. Dr. Tandon Kamal, Director – Education, SASMIRA – applauded everyone & blessed the students. Dr. Krishnendu Datta, Dean – SIDT welcomed all the dignitaries & every members of the audience. He briefed about the making of Enchanté 2022 & declared the commencement of the grand show!

Mr. Mihir Mehta, President, SASMIRA took this opportunity to announce two new collaborations of SIDT, with International Gemological Institute (IGI) for the Jewelry Designing Diploma Course and with The Academy of Sustainability (TAS) to introduce various academic programs in Sustainability & ESG studies.  Mr. Tehmasp Printer – MD, IGI addressed the audience about the collaboration between SIDT & IGI, the course offered and the scope of jewelry designing as a potential employment sphere. Ms. Meera Tenguria – Founder, TAS congratulated the participating students and spoke about the SIDT-TAS affiliation and the vital importance of Sustainability and ESG courses in the near future. Dr. Krishnendu Datta, Dean, SIDT reiterated the importance of Design Academics & asserted that SIDT not only nurtures the young, creative minds but also its education & training programs open up vast employment opportunities for our future generation, with fulfillment of the sustainable development goals of our Nation.

 

The theme for Enchanté 2022, A Celestial Saga – was a narrative of the sun, moon, and the stars, of the planets, constellations and the zodiacs; it is a saga of the various characteristics, personalities, and traits, we may find amongst ourselves. Drawing inspirations from the 12 Zodiac signs the garments were conceptualized, designed, and made by the immensely talented graduating students of SIDT.

 

There were 12 students’ collections in this gala event, showcasing Indian, Indo-western and western garments. The Jury panel consisted of – Tasneem Merchant, Aniket Satam, Leon Vaz – eminent Fashion Designers, and Priyanka Misra – acclaimed Fashion Stylist.

 

SIDT student – Piyush performed at the event to the delight of the audience. The Fashion Show Sequences were directed by well-known choreography director, Shakir Sheikh and his fabulous team with panache and grandeur.

 

Following were the award categories and the winners for the evening:

  1. Most Commercially Viable Collection- Sonali Singh: Theme -Capricorn
  2. Best collection – Arshita Singh: Theme- Pisces
  3. Best Surface Ornamentation- Divya Yadav – Theme- Cancer
  4. Best Ramp Appeal – Namrah Ansari- Theme-Leo

 

Mr. Mihir Mehta, President, SASMIRA, and Mrs. Smita Yeole, Vice President, SASMIRA appreciated the show and congratulated the team SIDT for the immense efforts to make this show spectacular.

 

The show was attended by more than 250 people, including dignitaries from fashion and textile industry, academic institutes, celebrities, as well as students and parents. The event was widely covered on digital & social media platforms.

 

The event was very well organized by Tefla’s, which is a renowned event management group based in Mumbai. Aseem Singh, Director, Tefla’s said, “We are happy that we have successfully executed the 9th edition of Enchanté.”  He wished the best to the students of SASMIRA and congratulated all the winners and participants for their precious contribution to the show’s success.
