Tata Power teams strike ‘Gold’ at the 30th Annual Chapter Convention on Quality Concepts CCQC – 2016 Tata Power’s teams from Trombay Thermal Power Station, Hydro division and Distribution Division win 7 ‘Gold’ awards

Mumbai and Pune, 2nd November, 2016: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has always been a pioneer in developing innovative technology showcasing its excellence in operations. Continuing with the commitment and legacy Tata Power’s teams from Trombay Thermal Power Station, Hydro Power Station and Distribution Division have won 7 ‘Gold’ awards at the 30th Annual Chapter Convention on Quality Concepts CCQC – 2016. This extraordinary achievement from Tata Power teams has set a benchmark for other companies and other Tata Power plants to emulate in the future.

The teams from Tata Power’s Trombay Thermal Power Station, named, ‘Utkarsha (CLP)’, ‘Kasturi’ (CMD), ‘Nayi Pahal’ (Construction) and Srijan (Central Civil) won ‘Gold’ awards for their hard work in projects on varied topics such as ‘Improvement in belt jointing process’; ‘Robotic painting for tall structure’; ‘Fly ash, red mud to replace cement’ and ‘UTWT over road surface’. The teams from Hydro division named ‘Omkar’ and ‘Vasundhara’ bagged ‘Gold’ for projects on ‘Failure if Spherical valve seals’ and ‘High Cycle time for overhauling of Generator Radiator’. Team Prerana from Distribution Division won ‘Gold’ for their performance on the project ‘RTU simulation kit for CSS off line issue’. The team has been qualified for the National Level QC competition to be held at Raipur, Chattisgarh in the month of December 2016.

The theme for this year’s Convention was ‘People’s Participation & Passion – The Pathway to Overall Success’.The efforts, ideation and the research behind the models were well appreciated by the panel of judges and the august audience present at the ceremony. The competition witnessed teams from major corporates competing against each other with innovative models and ideas.
