Adding to this list of works, GSIDC has undertaken the upgradation of the Goa State Horticultural Corporation Limited outlet in Althino. The Horticulture Department of Goa had proposed the upgradation of the outlet into a modern super market. It would now include a variety of horticultural products, daily essentials, cold storage items and dairy products.

Shri. Laxmikant Parsekar, Honorable Chief Minister of Goa said ” Goa State Horticulture Corporation Limited are committed to providing fresh vegetables and fruits. In an effort to improve we have taken the decision to have a fully air conditioned retail outlet. The vegetables sold here are clean, fresh and inexpensive. Though it is sold at an AC shop, the rates are the same as the market/stall price.I appreciate and congratulate Mr. Kiran Kandolkar, Chairman, Goa State Horticultural Corporation Limited who is taking this initiative forward. Panaji being declared in the Smart City List is the reason why this initiative has started from Panaji. Outlets in the other cities of Goa will soon be opened.”

The carpet area of the project is 43 sq mts. A wide pavement serves as the entrance to the outlet which not only acts as a parking area, but the benches and tree cover serve as a resting point for visitors. The doorway of the space is fitted with clear glass, making the vendor’s produce visible. A television has also been installed to advertise the products on sale. The isles are designed to maintain a clear circulation flow through the unit. They are equipped with chillers, stainless steel, easily cleanable vegetable racks and a misting bar that provides enough moisture to keep the produce fresh. Yellow-ochre vitrified tiles are used for the flooring and complimenting clay and ceramic tiles are laid on the walls. The outlet also has ample storage as well as a service area in the rear for loading and unloading items.
