Punjabi Global Foundation along with Deepak Singh supports the film “The Black Prince” starring Living Legends Shabana Azmi & Satinder Sartaaj
29th July, 2017 in Mumbai – Punjabi Global Foundation along with Deepak Singh supports the Hollywood flick ‘The Black Prince”- A film based on a true story of Maharaja Dalip Singh featuring Punjabi singer Satinder Sartaaj and Shabana Azmi.
The event saw the presence of Shabana Azmi, Satish Kaushik, Kailash Kher, Gurdas Mann, Champak Jain, Monica Gill, Sonia Mann, Harmeet Singh (Meet Bros), Rajiv Roda, Gananya Chadha, Kainath Mirza, Payaal Rajput, Saurabh Dhingra, Manu Punjabi, Rose Sardana, Sahil Kohli and many more.
The 34-year-old actor-turned-singer Satinder Sartaaj, who’ll be seen playing the lead role, said that he has high hopes for the movie and is quite excited for the film’s release “Most of the dialogues in the movie are in English. It has very few dialogues, which are in Punjabi and we are not planning to dub the movie in Punjabi,” he said.
Gurpreet Kaur Chadha, President of Punjabi Global Foundation & Deepak Singh said “We wanted to celebrate the movie, which depicts the Sikh community in all its splendor. The movie beautifully brings out the magnanimity of Sikhs and projects the community in a positive light. It is wonderful to see a mainstream Bollywood movie acknowledge the contribution of Sikhs on International level”
The story focuses on the last king of Sikh kingdom, Maharaja Dalip Sing. After the tragic death of his father, the young king is brought to live amongst the British elite. In an act of defiance of Queen Victoria and all those, he must set off on a journey of self-discovery to reclaim his identity, his faith and the Kingdom of Punjab.
The film has already been selected in several film festivals all around the globe, mainly Cinequest, Houston World-Fest, Bentonville Film Festival, London Independent film festival and International film festival of South Asia.
