Mumbai, 10 January 2023: Group Legrand India, a global specialist in electrical and digital building infrastructure, under its CSR initiative, is set to launch ‘Legrand PowerUp Program’ – an advanced skill development program with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) certification for domestic electricians, to improve the skills of electricians.

Legrand PowerUp is a first-of-its-kind programme in the Indian power industry with the goal of driving reskilling and upskilling initiatives and developing close collaborations with the electrician community to prepare them for new technologies and the future of work. Since a large segment of electrical products are now smart devices, the programme aims to bridge the skill-gap to handle smart electrical products such as EV (electric vehicle), the internet of things (IoT), solar, motor and inverter, among others. This program has been launched in 6 cities – Mumbai, Jaipur, Kochi, Lucknow, Chennai in collaboration with Centum Foundation. Legrand aims to train 5000+ electricians in the next 3 years.

Legrand started their RPL Electrician program in 2017. Over the last four years, Legrand India has trained over 10,000 electricians across 15 smart cities through RPL, which is part of their  skill development umbrella and is supported by PSSC. Similarly, the company hopes to make provisions for learning and upgrading opportunities to electricians through this new initiative.

Commenting on the new initiative, Tony Berland, Managing Director and CEO, Legrand Group India said, “We, at Legrand, believe that being a leader in electrical and digital infrastructure industry, with our industry knowledge & subject matter experts we developed this program with the aim to upskill our electrician community and keep them ready to meet today’s market and customer expectations. Special training is important and necessary for personnel at all levels of the industry as it helps to keep up with the rapidly advancing state-of-the-art technology in the power industry and helping them with better employment opportunities.”
