L.S. Raheja School of Architecture comes together to celebrate its annual festival Aakar

Covid has taken a toll on all the fun events and activities as well as public gatherings. Now that things are getting back to normal the world is moving forward and taking steps into the new normal with utmost precautions. L.S. Raheja School of Architecture (LSRSoA), Mumbai built by K Raheja Realty celebrated its annual fest Aakar from 28th February to 5th March 2022. The students, faculty, and staff came together to celebrate after 2 years; in an event that was spectacular and high in spirits. Almost 800 students of the institute participated in this 5 day long festival.

 

The theme for this year’s Aakar, as decided by the Student Council of the college, was termed “Chrysalis”. The student body was elated with this opportunity given by the Principal of LSRSoA, Ar. Mandar Parab, to conduct the fest this year on campus. The first two days of intra-college sporting events were filled with fun and enthusiasm, a highly energetic start to the fest.

 

The Annual Academic Exhibition was inaugurated by Mrs. Durga S. Raheja, Member, Board of Trustees, Bombay Suburban Art and Craft Education Society on 3rd March. Mrs. Durga S. Raheja also felicitated Ar. Gauri Satam, a student of the M.Arch. (Landscape) course from the batch of 2021, winner of the prestigious Global Urban Thesis award 2021, by the DAIDA Foundation, with an amount of INR 3,01,000/-. She was felicitated for her marvelous achievement of emerging winner amongst 44 entries across 15 nations, where she presented her work to the students of this proud institution.

 

During the festival, the meritorious students were felicitated through the hands of Shri. Shyam Wadhwani, President Bombay Suburban Art and Craft Education Society. Principals, HODs of various Architecture institutes, and Architect Prof. Abhay Purohit graced the exhibition with their presence and shared thoughtful insights with the students.

 

The Student Council President (2021-22), Ms. Arushka Shastry said, “We’re finally emerging from the Chrysalis of pandemic linked adversities, working towards a new normal – a slow and steady recovery in this state of transition”.

 

In a fantastic lineup of events throughout the week, the college also hosted notable speakers like Ar. Rajiv Nahar, Ar. G. Bhaskaran, Ar. Soyuz Talib, Ar. Karl Wadia, Ms. Manjusha Shrestha, and Ar. Aalok Deshmukh as part of their seminar series named Insights, Aakar edition. The college invited professionals to conduct workshops for Pranic healing, Miniature pottery, Papermaking, Pencil carving, Dance, and a Heritage walk conducted by Ar. Rahul Chemburkar.
