JBM Group conferred a certificate of appreciation by Govt. of India

New Delhi, June 13th, 2016: JBM Group has received a certificate of appreciation from Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy for generating and using solar power at its plant at Manesar (Gurgaon), Haryana. The certificate was given by New and Renewable Energy Minister Sh. Piyush Goyal at an event recently.

The Manesar plant of JBM that manufactures auto components for 2 wheelers had commissioned a 250 KV rooftop solar thermal power plant in 2014. It is being captively used for generating hot water which is in turn utilised for the surface treatment process in the paint shop at the plant.The steam generated from the solar plant boils 10,000 litres of water per day, reducing the dependence on traditional sources of energy like LPG and diesel.

The certificate of appreciation was given as part of the government’s initiative to promote use of solar energy by industries. The government is working in mission mode to reduce India’s carbon footprint to meet its commitment of reducing emissions by 33-35% by year 2030. India also wants to meet 40% of electricity requirement from non-fossil fuel based sources and hence is promoting use of solar among other sources.

The certificate was given at CST and Solar Cooker Excellence Awards in April 2016. The awards were given to state nodal agencies, manufacturers, suppliers of the technology and a wide range of beneficiaries to recognise their contribution in the government’s endeavour.

Reflecting on the recognition, JBM Group’s Executive Director Mr. Nishant Arya said, “Renewables hold an important position in our business plans. We are utilising renewable energy to reduce costs as well as create a new revenue stream. This will benefit all stakeholders while helping in environment sustainability. The recognition of our efforts at Manesar factory would encourage us to move ahead in this direction. I am thankful to Honourable Minister Sh. Piyush Goyal for the appreciation”.

JBM Group, which is a $1.35 billion conglomerate,has forayed into generation of renewable energy. JBM Solar, another group company, is currently building Haryana’s largest ground-mounted solar power plant with a capacity of 20MW. The company has already installed and is operating a 250KV solar plant at the rooftop of India Habitat Centre.
