Ekta World & Happy Foundation to conduct Maharashtra Paralympics

 Sports Meet for Para Athletes to be held at Khar Gymkhana from January 26 to 28, 2017

Mumbai, November 17, 2017:

In a first of its kind, Happy Foundation in association with Ekta World will be organsing The Maharashtra Paralympics, a sports meet for young para athletes at Khar Gymkhana, from January 26 to 28, 2018. The Maharashtra Para Sports will be supported by the Sports Authority of India and the Government of Maharashtra and hosted by Khar Gymkhana.

Amit Modi, Organising Secretary, made this announcement in the presence Ashok Mohanani, Ekta World founder and President, Khar Gymkhana, Gaurav Kapadia Hon. Secretary, Khar Gym and Madhavi Asher, Treasurer, Khar Gym, Rajendra Pawar, Deputy Secretary, Government of Maharashtra (Schools Education & Sports Dept.) and other dignitaries, at a press conference on Friday.

Also present was special invitees, Sikander Khan, a physically challenged person and Agastya Jaiswal, a super kid.

Speaking to media persons, Ashok Mohanani mentioned: “Special Children have always been close to us. Ekta World has worked with the under privileged for more than 25 years now. We as humans should understand the distinction of being humans by a paradigm shift that one needs to be a being first in order to be human. Hence we should grasp the opportunity wherever we find it.”

Events will be conducted for Boys and Girls in the Under-12, Under-15, Under-18 and Over-18 age categories in 8 individual and 2 team sports. Competitions will be conducted in the following sports disciplines – Badminton, Chess, Carrom, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Squash, Swimming and Karate (individual events) and Box Cricket and Rink Football (team events).

Amit Modi told reporters, “We’ve sent letters to 500 schools with the help of a team consisting 80 volunteers. We have also planned to visit the rural areas personally to invite them for the Maharashtra Para Sports. The event is also planned to be an annual feature where our objective is to start para sports development from the grassroot levels”, said Amit Modi.
