Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospitals opens high-end eyecare facility in Chembur, its 10th in Mumbai

 

• The company now has 20 eye hospitals operational in Maharashtra.
• It will invest an additional Rs 225 crores in the next 12-18 months to set up another 10 centres in Mumbai and Pune

 

MUMBAI / October 3, 2023: Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospitals has opened a state-of-the-art eyecare hospital in Chembur, Mumbai, at Signature Business Park. The facility, spread across 7,500 sq. mt., was inaugurated by the national award-winning singer and composer, Padma Shri Shankar Mahadevan, in the presence of Dr. Amar Agarwal, Chairman, Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospitals; Dr. Adil Agarwal, CEO, Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospitals; and Dr. Nita A Shah, Head- Clinical Services, Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospitals, Chembur.

On the occasion, Dr. Amar Agarwal, Chairman, Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospitals Said: “We are delighted to open this state-of-the-art facility in Mumbai to offer world-class eyecare to people. This is our tenth hospital in the city. We entered Maharashtra in 2017 with a centre in Pune, and quickly expanded to Mumbai in 2019. Now, we have 20 eyecare hospitals operational in the state across locations like Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, and Satara. This growth is only the tip of the iceberg as we believe Maharashtra can readily accommodate at least 50 more eye hospitals. In the next 12 to 18 months, we will invest Rs 225 crore to add 10 more centres in the cities of Mumbai and Pune.”

 

Added Dr. Adil Agarwal, CEO, Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospitals: “The expansion of our eyecare services in Mumbai is increasing accessibility, decreasing waiting periods, and offering cutting-edge technology for everyone in the region. In the next six months, we will cover the entire Central Line and, in the next two years, the Western and Harbour lines in Mumbai. Outside of our native state of Tamil Nadu, it is Maharashtra that we are most enthusiastic about. We have experienced astounding growth in this market.”

 

He added: “We have grown five-fold in Maharashtra in the last three financial years, from 4 hospitals in FY20 to 20 hospitals today, and are expecting to add 5 more hospitals in the next 6 months. Our short- to medium-term development will be concentrated primarily in Mumbai and Pune. However, for long-term expansion in Maharashtra, we are exploring newer markets such as Nagpur, Aurangabad, Jalna, Ahmednagar, Kolhapur, Akola, and Nanded, among others, in our effort to reach the count of 50 hospitals in the state. This expansion will comprise both greenfield and brownfield institutions.”

 

Said Dr. Nita A Shah, Head – Clinical Services, Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospitals, Chembur, Mumbai: “The Chembur facility, is a full-service eye examination and treatment facility that provides patients with the full range of eyecare, with eight highly qualified doctors supported by state-of-the-art technology and three modular operating rooms. It provides worldclass procedures for optimum eyecare, including cataract surgery, retina services, glaucoma services, cornea services, and laser vision correction. Facilities available include in-house anesthesia facility, A scan, IOL Master, Perimetry, Pachymetry, Topography, OCT, Synoptophore, Yag laser, Green laser, computerized dry eye check-up, optical and contact lens, pharmacy and laboratory. We may be the only eye facility in Mumbai with daily availability of specialised doctors from 10 am to 7 pm.”

 

In August this year, Dr. Agarwal’s Health Care raised Rs 650 crore from global investors. It now has over 150 centres and is aiming at doubling its network in the next 3 years. It is also looking to expand aggressively in Maharashtra, Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and central India besides penetrating deeper into its existing markets. It will also be establishing over 100 primary eye clinics in tier 2 and tier 3 towns in the next couple of years.
