India, 22nd June, 2022:  Asian Cancer Foundation (ACF) in association with ACI Hospitals, a boutique multi-specialty healthcare centre with an expertise in Oncology (Cancer), impacted lives of several policeman across the city with its ‘Quit to Win’ campaign. The campaign was initiated in accordance to the World No-Tobacco Day where they offered free cancer check-ups to Mumbai Police and their families. As a part of the initiative, ACF set up mobile vans for the check-ups in between 1st June to 15th June across police stations and their residential complexes in Mumbai; Dadar-Naigoan, Tardeo and Gamdevi offering special diagnostics for cancer detection.

Speaking on the occasion and the campaign, Dr. Deepak Parikh, Chairman, Asian Cancer Foundation (ACF), said, “We are thrilled to have witnessed such a positive turnout for our campaign ‘Quit To Win’. Being in the police force is extremely demanding physically and mentally. They have to be healthy and fit to help save lives and maintain law and order. This makes them vulnerable to many ill effects of stress including consumption of tobacco. We are grateful to these heroes of our city and glad we could do our part in safeguarding their health and commitment. Asian Cancer Foundation together with ACI hospitals is constantly promoting the need to partake in preventive measures for everyone. Early detection of any disease always helps in attaining the cure with minimal disability.”

Every year more than 8 million people die of tobacco consumption yet it continues to rapidly increase among people of all age groups in our country. Highly addictive, it can wreak havoc on one’s cardiovascular and respiratory health apart from putting one at risk for many types of cancer including oral and lung cancers. Thus, its time, we address the challenges to improve health status by increasing awareness, regular health check ups and deaddiction programs to decrease craving and control withdrawal symptoms.

The ACI Hospital located in the heart of Mumbai city has consistently delivered state-of-the-art health care in the field of surgical & medical oncology and palliative care and many other disciplines.
