IMC Ladies’ Wing Celebrated 30 Years of Mumbai’s Most Awaited Women Entrepreneurs’ Exhibition

Mumbai, August 17, 2017: The IMC Ladies’ Wing today celebrated the opening of the 30th anniversary of their highly acclaimed Women Entrepreneurs’ (WE) Exhibition. The showcase has carved a niche for itself as one of the most prestigious exhibitions on Mumbai’s social calendar, with a purpose of supporting creativity and enterprise in women, and an unmatched array of lifestyle, fashion and gourmet offerings.

This year’s theme is ‘Textiles of India’. Inspired by the creative use of yarns and fabrics of India, the unique showcase was presented in a grand fashion that delighted visitors. Joining the IMC Ladies’ Wing Committee Members for lighting the lamp were honoured guests – Smt. Kokilaben D. Ambani – Philanthropist, Sridevi – Renowned Actor & Producer, Poonam Mahajan – Member of Parliament – Mumbai North Central National President of Bhartiya Janta Party Yuva Morcha, Rashmi Thackeray, Amruta Fadnavis – Deputy Vice President – Axis Bank, Shaina NC – Spokesperson & Treasurer – BJP and Kanika Kapoor.

The super success of the exhibition last year had over 18000 people visit and was graced by the presence of Sonam Kapoor, Olympian Stephanie Rice, Pinky Reddy and Anuradha Mahindra. This year, 220 participants and 14 NGO’s from across the country are showcasing their immense craftsmanship and skill.

Said Mrs. Sridevi, “IMC is one of the most respected women organizations in the country. I am happy to be here today and support their efforts in encouraging women entrepreneurs and am amazed to see all these women are so excellent at their work. IMC Ladies’ Wing is doing a brilliant effort by providing women a platform to showcase their talent. I would like to wish all the participants the very best for their future.”

Said Smt. Kokilaben Ambani, “IMC Ladies’ Wing has provided these women a wonderful platform to showcase their work. I would like to congratulate the President and all the committee members of IMC. Women is a symbol of power and determination, I am glad to be a part of this celebration and would like to wish each and every participant all the best.”

Poonam Mahajan shared, “Our society should encourage women entrepreneurship. I am very grateful to IMC Ladies’ Wing as they provide these very talented ladies a platform to exhibit their work. The theme ‘Textiles of India’ this year has also given a chance to women from the remote villages of India to showcase their talent as well.”

Echoing Mrs. Mahajan’s thoughts, Dr. Pheroza Godrej shared that the art of kimono has disappeared from Japanese, and encourages Indians to support the development of Indian textiles so we would not suffer the same state in India.

One of the major highlights this season is the participation of global women entrepreneurs. WE, boasts a multitude of participants who are in their early 20’s, consisting of promising and passionate ladies who are potential game changers of the industry.

Mrs. Nayantara Jain, President, IMC Ladies’ Wing says, “An empowered woman can change the future of her family and the ripple effect can be seen for generations to come. ‘Winds of Change – we can; we will.’ The idea behind this motto is to go beyond our boundaries and encourage the women who need exposure for their potential and make a difference in their lives.”
