XLRI inaugurates New Academic Session of 2015

XLRI inaugurates New Academic Session of 2015_pic 2XLRI – Xavier School of Management today welcomed the new batch of students at a ceremony of commencement of the new academic session of 2015.

Today, a total of 573 students joined the illustrious XLRI student fraternity, including the three flagship programmes:

  • Business Management (PGDM-BM: 2015-17 batch) – 180 students;
  • Human Resource Management (PGDM-HRM: 2015-17 batch) – 180 students and
  • Fifteen-months General Management Programme (PGDM-GM: 2015-16 batch) – 120 students

Along with:

  • Three years Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM-BM, Part Time: 2015-18 batch) – 47 students;
  • PGDM (Global MBA: 2015-17 batch) – 17 students;
  • Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) – 12 students and
  • Executive Fellow Programme in Management (EXEC-FPM) – 17 students.

The new students were welcomed at a solemn, inaugural prayer service function at XLRI Campus in presence of all the current students, faculty and staff members. The welcome ceremony was addressed by Fr. E. Abraham, S.J., Director, XLRI and Prof. Pranabesh Ray, Dean [Academics], XLRI.

Fr. E. Abraham, S.J., Director, XLRI, welcomed the students and impressed upon them the need and importance of – “Exercising Responsible behavior and its impact on institutional Reputation”. “Exercising Voluntary responsibility for your academic and co-curricular actions should be your guiding force and will stand you in good stead whilst you are studying in XLRI and long after you have passed out and become a business leader”, he said in his welcome address to the students.

Fr. Abraham commented, “At XLRI, it is our mission, to offer enriching learning experiences to aspiring managers and business leaders to enable them to realize their full potential and ensure that they serve as agents of continuous improvement and change. It is our belief that in doing so, we will thereby be grooming future business leaders who will serve as catalysts of change and become responsible leaders of tomorrow that will carve the destiny of a new India. And this Vision and Mission has translated itself into a unique culture at XLRI.

“From the beginning, XLRI cultivated a global outlook. International persons were the leaders and teachers. International funds were sought to build XLRI and XLRI was the first to internationalize its program. Keeping up with the same tradition, XLRI Jamshedpur has become THE FIRST INDIAN B-SCHOOL TO COMMIT AND ENDORSE THE PRINCIPLES FOR RESPONSIBLE MANAGEMENT EDUCATION OF UN GLOBAL COMPACT. With the recent prestigious global accreditation from AMBA, we look forward to provide our students with further opportunities in areas like access to the latest research and training, global networking and career support”, he added.

The new students will be taken through a Special Orientation Programme drawn up by XLRI to update their knowledge before regular classes commence.

The first year students will also be taken for XLRI’s compulsory Village Exposure Programme and the Outbound Programme. Both the programmes have been specially designed for the students to create awareness about the realities rural India.

Introducing the new batch of students to the accomplished faculty members of the institute,  Prof. Pranabesh Ray, Dean [Academics], XLRI commented, “XLRI is known for its academic excellence as well as instilling in its students the right values through courses, activities, events and the environment it creates. A unique feature in the first term will be the Village Exposure Programme and the Outbound Programme. Both the programmes have been designed to create awareness among the students of life in rural India, as well as the importance of team spirit. Such an integral and value-based formation will impel the future managers to be innovative, competent and creative leaders.”
