Thane celebrates Sindhi traditional and Cultural diversity with ‘Sunhri Sindh’

DSC_0360The music, art, handicraft and food lovers in Thane will soon feel happy. This summer, the bonanza of music, art, handicrafts and a variety of food is coming directly from the Sindh province – one of the richest and ancient cultures India has ever boasted.

Thanekars will thus have one more opportunity this summer to experience the ‘Sindhi’ flavor of music, art, handicrafts and food in a specially organized grand festival called as ‘Sunhri Sindh’. Organised by Puj Sadhu Vaswani Sindhi Panchayat, Thane an apex organization of Sindhi Community, the ‘Sunhri Sindh’ Festival will be a three-day extravaganza that will attract many Thanekars to enjoy the typical ‘Sindhi’ flavour. This mega event will be organized at Sant Tukaram Kridangan (Lal Maidan) Sadhu vaswani Nagar, Thane East from 8th to 10th May 2015 from 5 P.M. to 10 P.M.

Set to offer every aspect of the Sindhi tradition, Culture, Festivals, from Sindhi’s famous Dal Pakvan, Pakode to devotional songs of Jhulelal, this first ever Sindhi festival in Thane will exhibit a colourful Sindhi tradition, grand model of Sindh 35’ X 65’ displaying 24 districts,  replica of Jhulelal Mandir  etc.

“Sindhi ethnic origin community is scattered all around and the Sindhis are one of the most integral part of Thane and the surrounding belt. The Sindhi community carries a rich tradition of Sanskriti in every form of music, art, handicraft and food. We have organized this festival with the motive to introduce our diverse culture to people at large in Thane and surrounding region. Music, art, handicrafts and food are the most important components of a Sindhi cultural tradition. The more vivacious they are, the more are the chances that this culture will spread and thrive”, said Mr Raju Khetwani, President, Puj Sadhu Vaswani Sindhi Panchayat, Thane .

Another exiting event is the book launch by the name of ‘Luminary Sindhis at Thane’. This book will showcase the profiles of successful Sindhis and will throw light on Sindh, its culture, tradition etc.
