Mumbai became a meeting point for European food traditions and India’s evolving food and beverage market as the European Union’s European Pavilion brought together the diverse flavours, products and culinary heritage of Europe from September 29 to October 1 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre.

Part of the “More than Food India” campaign, the pavilion showcased more than 250 authentic food and beverage products from all 27 EU Member States. The showcase featured a wide range of European offerings, including dairy and cheeses, olive oils, fruits and vegetables, bakery and confectionery products, meats and beverages, along with products protected by Geographical Indications (GIs).

For the European Union, the pavilion at Anuga Select India 2026 represented an important platform to connect European producers with Indian consumers, buyers, importers and businesses. Beyond showcasing products, it highlighted the opportunities for deeper engagement between the European and Indian food and agri-food sectors.

Mr Petros Sourmelis, Minister Counsellor, Head of Trade and Economic Affairs Section of the Delegation of the European Union to India, said, “European Union and India share exceptionally rich culinary traditions. The European Pavilion offered a unique window into that shared passion, bringing more than 250 authentic products together and creating opportunities for European producers to connect with Indian businesses and consumers.”

The pavilion also brought European food culture to life through live cooking demonstrations and tastings, with celebrity chefs Ajay Chopra and Guntas Sethi showcasing European products and ingredients through contemporary culinary experiences.

Looking beyond food and culinary discovery, Sourmelis highlighted the wider trade opportunity between the two markets. “As the common work on the Free Trade Agreement and Geographical Indication agreements between the EU and India advances, Indian businesses and consumers can gain broader access to premium European goods, supported by authentic regional flavours, high quality and sustainable innovation.”

With food, culture, product heritage and trade coming together, the European Pavilion of the EU provided a platform to deepen connections between European food producers and India’s growing consumer and business market.
