A Gurukul for Indian Performing Arts returns for the 5th year with its Naada Bindu Festival (NBF), a 3-day performing arts retreat designed to introduce its audience to an “Arts-as-a-Lifestyle” experience.  Scheduled from May 29 to 31, 2015, this year’s festival presents a blend of 3 generations of path-breaking artists in Indian classical music and dance. It will be held at Chinmaya Vibhooti, in Kolwan near Pune.

The 5th NBF assumes greater significance as it is the birth centenary year of His Holiness Swami Chinmayananda, the founder of the Chinmaya Mission. Shri. Narendra Modi, honorable Prime Minister of India unveiled a commemorative coin as a tribute to Swamiji’s 100th birth year on May 08, 2015 in New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Himanshu Nanda, Director – Music, Chinmaya Naada Bindu said: “We are pleased to offer the 5th NBF this year at the feet of Swami Chinmayanananda on the occasion of his birth centenary. It is our privilege to have legends like Padma Vibhushan Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Padma Bhushan Begum Parween Sultana, Vidushi Malinitai Rajurkar, Vidushi Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh, Vidwan Abhishek Raghuram and Vidha & Abhimanyu Lal to perform this year. During the stay in this spiritually charged atmosphere for 3 days and 2 nights, both the audience and artists will have plenty of opportunities to meet and mingle with each other as well.” He added, “It is motivating to see NBF’s popularity is growing every year. Our concept of a 3-day performing arts retreat is rare and a logical extension of India’s traditional Guru-Shishya parampara in which we impart knowledge to our students.”

The 6 performances at this year’s festival features instrumental and vocal music, dynamic dance creations along with 2 informative lecture-demonstrations. A spiritual satsang with Swami Tejomayananda, worldwide head of the Chinmaya Mission will be one of the highlights of the 5th NBF. All performances will be held in the fully air-conditioned 1008 seater “Sudharma” auditorium at Chinmaya Vibhooti in Kolwan, near Paud in Pune. The Chinmaya Mission has made elaborate arrangements for accommodation and meals for the audience for all three days at the venue. There will be subsidized transport in AC buses from Mumbai and Pune to make it convenient to travel to and from the venue.
