Grand *Ganesh Chaturthi* celebration held at Prestige Misty Waters

Photo 2Bangalore, September 08,2019: Ganesh Chaturthi, an auspicious day is celebrated with much love throughout the country as the birthday of Lord Ganesha. This festival took on prominence during the Freedom Struggle when Bal Gangadhar Tilak and freedom fighters from Maharashtra used this as an opportunity to aggregate people and rebel against the Law preventing assembly imposed by the British! Keeping this sentiment and theme in mind, the residents of Prestige Misty Waters, Hebbal welcomed Ganpati with pomp and a Maha aarti in the morning, followed by cultural performances in the evening. The cultural performances involved skits and dances by the children dedicated to Ganesha, Shiva, and Parvati. Around 500 people took part in this mega celebration over the weekend.

The children also took the opportunity to show everyone the importance of being ecofriendly presenting a skit and displaying their handmade Clay Ganpati’s. The women put up various performances including a traditional “Lejhim” performance. The highlight of the show was the representation of “States of India” including costumes and folk dances from various states paying reverence to the history of this festival.

The festivities continued with a *Chappan Bhog Prasad* 56 items offered as prasad to Ganesha contributed by the resident families. Visarjan and Procession took place along with a fantastic Tamta Band with all residents dancing away “Ganpati Bappa Morya … Agle Baras Tu Jaldi aana”.

Over the years with growing environmental awareness, people have started celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi in an environmentally friendly way. This includes – getting Ganesha idols made of natural clay/ mitti and using only flowers and natural items for decorating the pandals.

Ganesha is known as the God of wealth, sciences, knowledge, wisdom and prosperity, and that’s why most Hindus remember him and seek his blessings before starting any important work.
