Mumbai, Dec 9: Impressions, one of the longest-running intercollegiate media festivals across Mumbai, will be held from December 16 to 18. This is the 14th year in a row that the event is being held. The event will have vibrant theme, and will see participation from around 35 colleges across Mumbai.
The logo for the event was released at VES College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Chembur. The theme for the year is Reel vs Real.
The idea behind the theme is; how media is constantly blurring the line between fact and fiction, often putting its viewers in a dilemma of choice, especially through the ever evolving web and film media.
Organized by the Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM) Department, this three-day annual festival is the coming together of more than 600 students and media professionals.
The fest is known for its signature events such as The Big Picture/Promotion (photography event), War of DJs, Live Reporting, I-Talkies (filming event) and Wall of Graffiti.
Over the years, celebrities like Sameer Kochhar, Sajid Nadiawala, Deepal Dobriyal, Imam Siddique, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, and many other respected personalities have attended the event.
“It is in our endeavor to provide a platform for the youngsters to take a deep look into the realm of media, how it functions and its over-reaching influence upon the society and media narratives are shaping the many dynamics of our society. I am sure Impressions will go a long way in helping the student community come up with coherent ideas about the media ecosystem in our country,” said Prof. Shikha Dutta, HOD, BMM Department.
