Chennai, October 11, 2017: Essel Infra, an enterprise of Dr. Subhash Chandra led Essel Group signs Concession Agreement with National Mission for Clean Ganga in Delhi for development of Sewage Treatment Plant under Hybrid Annuity based PPP mode. Essel Infra is the PPP Partner for this 50 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) contract based on Hybrid Annuity-PPP model. This project is the very first of the two such projects awarded under Namani Gange Program.
The project, which will be constructed in eighteen months and will be operated and maintained for 15 years by Essel Infra. This STP will treat 5 crore litres of sewage of Varanasi city every day. The project will use world class SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactors) technology to treat sewage as per stringent international quality standards. Currently, the entire sewage is being pushed in the River Gange without any treatment mechanism and is a major source of pollution in the river.

Essel Infra is leading the consortium for the project, will undertake complete designing, development, finance and construction work of the STP, its Effluent Disposal Pipeline and all associated infrastructure. This first of a kind Sewage Treatment Project is being managed under the ‘Namami Gange Programme’, a Flagship Programme of the Central Government.
