Mumbai, Sept 3: Asia’s largest International Expos on Smart and Safe Mobility –TrafficInfraTech Expo and ParkingInfraTech Expo were flagged off by Shri Sanjay Mitra, Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai on Sept 01. Many innovative urban traffic & parking solutions, futuristic intelligent transport systems and new technologies were unveiled with a simple focus of addressing urban India’s traffic and parking woes. Keeping in mind the upcoming Smart Cities, innovative solutions caught most attention and were applauded by both the visiting Governmental and Entrepreneurial guests. Joining the inauguration with Sanjay Mitra, was Smt. Leena Nanda, Joint Secretary, MoRTH, Government of India and was later in the day joined by Shri Mansukh L Mandaliya, Minister of State Road Transport & Highways.
The three-day Expo exhibits the latest and most innovative solutions in Traffic and Parking management.
“TrafficInfraTech expo brings together various people who probably interact with each other but not on a common platform. This expo brings together all possible stakeholders of the sector and provides a perspective that allows us to learn,” said Sanjay Mitra. “This year, nearly Rs.600 crores has been provisioned for Road Safety. We have authorized regional offices to provide road safety services on an urgent basis. Also we have sought to amend the Motor Vehicle Act which is still in the parliament. Once it comes into being, we hope to have higher penalties for speeding, drunken driving and for such other traffic offences which we hope and expect will cut down traffic accidents significantly,” he added.
He urged technology programmers to develop apps that will be handy to commuters on highways. These apps will be able to provide its users with information on the toll structures, the wayside amenities and, congestion position among others.
Through the day, many Government & Infrastructure leaders, BEST officials, including BEST General Manager Dr Jagdish Patil (IAS), Mayors, Concessionaires and High ranking Police officers visited the show and spent a good amount of time visiting each exhibit, understanding the new technologies and how they could be integrated to make Indian mobility Smart & Safe.
A special award was given for Thiruvananthpuram City Road Improvement Project (TCRIP) of IL&FS to Mr Anilkumar Pandala, Project Director of TCRIP by Secretary, Shri Sanjay Mitra.
The Smart Mobility expo is India’s only and unique platform for connecting the Traffic & Parking industry with the Governments, Policy Makers, Enforcement Authorities and Infrastructure Developers.
The 3-day conference focuses on many key issues and topics including Smart Roads & Highways; Urban Traffic Management; Parking Management; Effective Enforcement; Public Transport Operations Management. The conclave witnessed the convergence of more than 50 Industry Leaders and Experts, Government officials, Traffic Experts, who over the 3-days will discuss, debate and deliberate with keynote presentations, panel discussions, case study presentations and much more.
Over 150 exhibitors from over 20 countries including USA, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Netherland, Denmark, Hong Kong, Italy, UK, Korea, China, Hungary, and Sweden among others showcased the latest in Traffic Infrastructure, Management and Technology, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), Tolling, Safety & Security, and Mass transport. Additionally, more than 25 exhibitors showcased new technologies for the first time in India today.
