Mumbai, 16th January 2025: TeamLease Digital, a leading specialized staffing solutions provider, recently hosted a CXO ThinkTank, delving into the theme of “The Tech & GCC Evolution of Maharashtra.” The event, led by Ms Neeti Sharma, CEO of TeamLease Digital, brought together senior decision-makers from industries such as Manufacturing, Telecom, Engineering, BFSI, IT Services, and EdTech to discuss the dynamic shifts in technology and their profound impact on talent and India’s growth trajectory.
The CXO ThinkTank delved into key themes shaping the technology and Global Capability Center (GCC) landscape. A major focus was the rising complexity of transformation projects, particularly in GCCs. Discussions highlighted the adoption of advanced technology stacks, the importance of a clear tech roadmap, and the shift from traditional five-year technology refresh cycles to a model of continuous innovation and iterative upgrades. This approach emphasizes agile updates, evergreen IT models, and scalable cloud infrastructure. Participants also underscored the increasing demand for diverse skills across technology, operations, and business development.
“This gathering of senior decision makers exemplifies our commitment to fostering dialogue on critical industry trends and their implications for talent and business growth,” said Neeti Sharma, CEO of TeamLease Digital. Maharashtra is at the forefront of India’s tech evolution, and the insights generated here will serve as a roadmap for companies navigating the complexities of transformation, skill development, and employee engagement.”
One of the recurring themes at the event was the importance of core skills, such as problem-solving and adaptability, which complement technical expertise. The delegates highlighted the critical role of hiring individuals with a growth mindset eager to learn and adapt, particularly in GCCs. The event underscored how businesses build robust programs to ensure employee engagement and recognise contributions, fostering a sense of belonging and purpose among their workforce.
Munira Loliwala, VP of Strategy and Growth at TeamLease Digital, added, “As the industry evolves, there is a compelling need to rethink traditional hiring practices, embrace diversity in talent, and align organisational goals with individual aspirations. The discussions at the CXO ThinkTank reaffirmed the importance of adaptability and leadership in driving sustainable growth in this dynamic landscape.”
Further, the event shed light on the trend toward hiring non-traditional talent pools. Companies are moving beyond conventional campus recruitment, exploring tier 2 institutions and candidates from non-engineering backgrounds who bring a fresh perspective and an eagerness to experiment with diverse roles. Additionally, leadership development and career mobility took centre stage, with companies advocating for internal growth and encouraging role changes every few years to prevent stagnation and ensure continuous professional development.
The insights shared during the event were backed by data from industry reports. By 2028, 2.73 million new tech jobs are expected to be created in India, benefiting sectors such as retail, manufacturing, healthcare, and education. Mumbai alone has witnessed a 17% increase in tech roles (in tech and non-tech sectors) between October 2023 and 2024, and Pune is emerging as a hub of employable talent, boasting a staggering 78.32% employability rate. The discussion also touched upon the growing adoption of AI capabilities in GCCs, with projections indicating that over 70% of Indian GCCs will integrate AI by 2026.
Overall, the delegates provided a comprehensive analysis of compensation trends across various segments, including data science, product management, data analytics, full-stack development, financial analysis, and cybersecurity, in cities such as Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Chennai, and Hyderabad. The insights offered a nuanced perspective on the evolving salary structures in these high-demand domains.
