Sa-Dhan, India’s premier Association of Community Development Finance Institutions, and the representatives of the microfinance industry have announced the appointment of Mr. P. Satish as its executive director. The selection was made after a rigorous search and selection process by industry experts and a special board appointed search committee of Sa-Dhan.
Talking about his new appointment, Mr. Satish said, “I am positively looking forward to get associated with Sa-Dhan, which is the largest and oldest association in the nation. Over the years Sa-Dhan has played a crucial role in building the standards and practice for the sector. Moreover, Sa-Dhan has also become an SRO, through which we can further streamline the sector accordingly.”
Mr. Satish has been a part of the development sector for over two decades. His work experience includes his role as the Chief General Manager in NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) for almost a decade. He has also headed the Micro Credit Innovation Department in NABARD overseeing the Self Help Group – Bank Linkage Programme, the biggest microfinance programme in the world.
While heading the Maharashtra Regional Office of NABARD he had taken up pioneering initiatives like the Vidharbha Model of Financial Inclusion through SHGs as BFs/BCs and the first climate change adaptation project.
Mr. Satish worked at the grassroots level as District Development Manager at NABARD in the 1990s. Prior to NABARD, he had also worked at Reserve Bank of India. He has also been a consultant for various national and International agencies including UNDP, IFAD, UN-OPS etc.
