Panaji, September 2016: Panaji, the capital of Goa had been selected under the Smart City Mission of Union Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India launched in June 2015 The Smart Cities Mission is an innovative initiative by the Government of India to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life of people by enabling local development and harnessing technology as a means to create smart outcomes for citizens trough extensive public consultations
In an effort to initiate the Smart City projects, Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited has announced a ‘Make Your City Smart’ competition wherein citizens are invited to conceptualise designs for a street and a junction. The areas that are shortlisted for the competition are Rua de Ourem street, the junctions at the Old Patto Bridge and Four-pillars junction. The participants will have to submit innovative concepts on how they envision these spaces to be developed.
The ‘Make your City Smart’ competition is open to all citizens including students from schools, colleges. The top three winning entries will be awarded cash prizes of Rs. 50,000, Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 in each category i.e. street and junction respectively. The competition has gone live on the 28th September 2016; the last date for the submission of entries is 31st October 2016.
