Maharashtra State Haj committee Chairman Haji Ebrahim Shaikh Bhaijan raises the issue of Hajis’ flight delay and demands compensation

Mumbai, July 17, 2016:Maharashtra State Haj committee Chairman Haji Ebrahim Shaikh Bhaijan recently organized a dinner party at Santaruz, Mumbai where most of the members of Haj Committee of India were present. Speaking on this occasion Haji Ebrahim raised various issues being faced by the Indian Hajis. According to him Indian Hajis have to face several issues while going for Haj, such as delay of flights for about 18 to 20 hours. Considering that such delays are out of control by the airlines, Haji s should get compensation and accommodation should be taken care. Money should be refunded of those Hajis who were not able to go for Haj after filling the form due to their illness. Newly appointed Chairman of Haj Committee of India Chaudhary Mehboob Ali Kaiser MP (Lok Sabha) had said that he will look in to the matter and will take necessary steps to resolve the issue. He expressed a hope that Haj – 2016 will be success with cooperation of all agencies concerned in India as well as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Some of the silent facts for Haj – 2016 are as follows.

• Day of Arafat ecpected on 10.09.2016.
• Around 4 lac haj applications were received . Around 45,000 of these were received online.
• As per Bilateral Agreement between India and Saudi ,HCOI quota is 1,00,020
• Seats reserved for Khadimul Hujjaj : 500, Government quota : 500 and Mehram quato : 200.
• Advance Haj amount was fixed at Rs 81,000. Balance Haj amount announced on 05.06.16 to be deposited by 02.07.16,extended to 18.07.16
• Training of 482 Trainers at Haj House ,Mumbai was done on 5 – 7 April 2016.
• Khadim ul Hujjaj : ratio raised to 1 Khadim for 200 pilgrims , performance of Haj earlier compulsory
• Group insurance cover (maximum amount) raised to 10 lacs from 3 lacs .
