Magicbricks’ Hackathon concludes on a high note

Hackathon IMG 12nd August, 2016: Hackathon, a 36 hour non-stop coding competition organized by Magicbricks, India’s leading realty portal, saw 350+ team registrations with 1000+ members. Out of this 25 teams were selected to participate in the final offsite competition which witnessed 25 top-notch creative entries based on 4 technologies – Big Data, AI, Bot, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.

The first prize was awarded to Team Harmony, who proposed a solution for the discovery of property lists by potential buyers and renters using smart chat bots that allows users to search and narrow down the search results in a free flowing chat interface.

The second prize went to Team CodeRage. Their solution consisted of a chat based interactive system, which allows buyers to search for properties on Instant Messengers which presents the results on a Google Map. Their solution also demonstrated integration of Virtual Reality Imagery for an engaging user experience.

The third prize went to Team Bob The Builder who targeted the problem of incomplete property details using Natural Language Process and Machine Learning.

Speaking post the event, Mr Subodh Kumar, Head of Technology, Magicbricks, said, “I was amazed by the creative thinking and application of technologies by the participating teams. It was very challenging for us to choose the winning entry because each of the 25 entries was outstanding. We are happy with the enthusiasm shown by the registered members of the developer community and we are looking forward to implementing some of the winning innovative solutions in our existing infrastructure to address problems in the real estate sector.”

For the Magicbricks Hackathon, 100 plus teams submitted proposals for different applications of the 4 technologies of which 65 teams were shortlisted initially. After another tough round of screening, 25 teams were selected for their implementable ideas out of which, 10 teams worked on Big Data, 3 on Artificial Intelligence 5 on Bot, 4 on Augmented Reality and 3 on Virtual Reality technologies.
