The Green Metal stainless steel today the most sustainable choice for developing India’s infrastructure

Mumbai, 9th April 2022: Mumbai is hosting an international stainless-steel conclave, GSSE 2022: Global Stainless-Steel Expo 2022 at Jio World Centre, BKC on April 12-14,2022.

Powered by Jindal Stainless, this international B2B exhibition-cum-conference is supported by the Ministry of Steel, Government of India and organised by Virgo Communications and Exhibitions, India’s leading trade show organisers. This landmark event will bring some of the leading Indian stainless-steel producers under one roof and showcase overall industry’s vision for the coming years.

India is the fastest growing and second largest stainless-steel market in the world. Owing to superior resistance to corrosion and extreme temperatures, excellent strength-to-weight ratio, inherent hygiene properties, aesthetic appeal and complete recyclability, stainless steel has outpaced its competitors. Also known as the ‘green metal’, stainless steel is the most sustainable choice for developing India’s infrastructure, and thus immensely contributes to the overall GDP growth of the country. In FY 2021-22, India produced ~4 million tonnes of stainless steel. Demand for stainless steel in India is expected to register a higher growth rate than the world with a CAGR of nearly 7.5% over 2022-2025. The per capita consumption of stainless steel in India stands at 2.5 kgs, compared to the world average of ~6 kgs, indicating endless potential for the metal’s usage in the coming years.

This 3-day conclave will provide an exclusive platform to stainless steel industry stakeholders including manufacturers, buyers, influencers, regulators, industry associations and media, to converge under one roof. The exhibition will offer the stakeholders an opportunity to network, showcase new products, build presence in their target markets as well as explore business opportunities not just in India but across globe.

It will also offer participants a gateway to familiarise themselves with cutting edge technology available across the world, deliberate on emerging business trends during knowledge-packed topical sessions, lay down a road map to accelerate industry’s growth and jointly devise ways to reclaim India’s position as second largest stainless-steel producer. Incidentally, the cyclical and structural factors have been driving growth in the country’s stainless steel segment post pandemic.

The exhibition will be attended by top industry captains from the country and beyond. Smt. Rasika Chaube, Addl. Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Government of India will be the Chief Guest.
Commenting on the event Mr Vijay Sharma, Director, Jindal Stainless said: “As the exclusive title partner of GSSE, we are looking forward to meeting fellow stakeholders in the stainless-steel ecosystem, including suppliers, users, traders, associations, regulators, and makers. We intend to leverage this event to discuss issues pertinent to the growth of India’s stainless steel
industry, and solutions needed to raise the bar for the whole country.”

GSSE 2022 will also have Outokumpu, Ratnamani, Laxcon Steel and Minox Metal as Gold Partners. The exhibition is supported by Indian Stainless Steel Development Association (ISSDA) as Lead Association, Pegasus Consulting as Knowledge Partner, Stainless Bazaar as Digital Partner, Stainless Steel Pipe & Tube Manufacturer Association (SSPTMA), Metal and Stainless Steel Merchants Association (MASSMA), All India Stainless Steel Industries Association (AISSIA), Stainless Steel Merchants Association (SSMA), Process Plant & Machinery Association of India (PPMAI) and Non-Ferrous Metals Association-Karnataka (N’MAK).

The exhibition will be hosted with adequate safety precautions in place to avoid the spread of COVID-19. Commenting about the event, Anitha Raghunath, Director, Virgo Communications and Exhibitions said “India is a prominent nation for the global steel industry, leading the way and setting an example for others to emulate. As such, it needed a dedicated convergence point to explore business development opportunities, get perspectives from experts and most importantly, get reliable information in a ‘hands-on’ format. GSSE 2022 has been astutely planned to accomplish precisely that. As responsible organisers, we have gone the extra mile and tried our level best to meet the expectations of industry stakeholders at GSSE 2022”
