Panaji, India: The International Gemological Institute (IGI), the world’s largest independent gem certification and appraisal institute hosted a 3-day BUYER SELLER KNOWLEDGE MEET in Goa recently. The IGI ‘D-Show’ gets bigger and better with each passing year. This time the show took place at The Lalit Golf & Spa Resort in Goa.
After successfully organising the meet in Hyderabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore and Jaipur, thus covering all the zones of the country, IGI’s 6th edition of BUYER SELLER KNOWLEDGE MEET promised even more opportunities for players in the industry. A panel discussion on the influx and identification of Synthetic diamonds, as well as current industry related issues like excise, and taxation, were discussed and deliberated on. This helped empower the gems and jewellery fraternity with pertinent information to face the many challenges in the industry.
The vision of the D-Show is to further the development of the Diamond and gemstone market in the country by facilitating clear communication and education platforms. The three-day BUYER SELLER KNOWLEDGE MEET offered an opportunity to manufacturers for cross-zone meetings and to connect with prospective buyers. The three-day meet witnessed participation of retailers from all five zones of the country.
The gems and jewellery industry plays a significant role in the country’s economy and has been one of the fastest growing sectors in the country. The diamond industry is internationally recognized due to its talented craftsmen, who possess a superior ability in cutting and polishing diamonds. Talking about the IGI D-Show, Tehmasp Printer, MD, IGI –India, states: “The D-Show was in its 6th year and has blossomed into a true networking platform for the Diamond and Jewellery trade. This year, the show had over 100 jewellers participating.
