Design entrepreneur Gaurav Mehta Launches a Design Foundation for Next-Generation Designers

Jaipur, India – May 24, 2024 – Gaurav Mehta, founder of India’s leading micro luxury brand Jaipur Watch Company announced the launch of the  Gaurav Mehta Design Foundation aimed at nurturing budding talent in watch design: specifically focusing on Indian style design themes. The foundation will not only hone but also honor design talent across India.

The Gaurav Mehta Design Foundation is for design students to participate and create an analog wristwatch that embodies design language at its core. All design students will be encouraged to respectfully reinterpret traditional Indian craftsmanship and cultural motifs: infusing them with contemporary design elements to create timeless and sophisticated aesthetics. Emphasis is placed on ergonomic excellence, prioritizing wearer comfort through thoughtful consideration of size, weight distribution, and strap materials. Additionally, the designs must integrate elements that align with Jaipur Watch Company’s existing product range, ensuring a cohesive and recognisable brand identity. The Gaurav Mehta Design Foundation is committed to supporting the next generation of designers. It is an initiative aimed at nurturing young design talent and giving back to the community by fostering creativity and preserving traditional Indian craftsmanship.

Designs will be evaluated on concept and execution and the most outstanding design submission will not only receive a cash prize of ₹25,000 but also an internship opportunity at Jaipur Watch Company, where one can develop skills and push the boundaries of traditional and modern horology.
