CM Eknath Shinde presides over MMRDA’s – Global Solution Summit 2034 organised by Construction Times

Mumbai, 15 October 2022: Global Solution Summit @2034, organised by Construction Times, presented by MMRDA concluded today October 15th 2022. The program was Presided  by Shri. Eknath Shinde, Hon. Chief Minister, Maharashtra State,  in the presence of Shri Shrikant Shinde, Hon. MP, Govt. Of India, Shri Rahul Shewale , Hon. MP Govt. Of India, Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Hon. Minister, Govt. of Maharashtra and other IAS officers and delegates from construction industry.

Shri. Eknath Shinde, Hon. CM, Maharashtra State, said ” For the development of MMR, MMRDA is always ahead. Now it’s time to make Mumbai city a Best City of World, for that MMRDA has undertaken key infrastructure projects like Metro Rail, MTHL, Sewri- Worli Connector, Thane Coastal Road, Borivali- Thane Twin Tunnel, Teen Hat Naka to decongest traffic in Thane etc. We have overcome the hurdles of the Metro 3 carshed too.

Once 337 km Metro Line will get fully operational, almost 40 lakh people will travel by Metro, that will reduce the use of private vehicle and pollution too. I have observed that in discussion over regional transportation, Slum Free city Dharavi Punarvikas, Water Logging, MMRDA is working on it. The face of MMR will be different in near future and MMRDA will play a vital role in it, he added.”

During the event panel discussion on Slum Free Mumbai – Reimagining Dharavi, was held. Shri. S.V.R. Srinivas IAS, Hon. Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA headed the panel discussion with others esteemed dignitaries from SRA, BMC etc. Shri. S.V.R. Srinivas IAS, MC, MMRDA  gave the key note while talking on  Dharavi re development project & Slum Free Mumbai.

While discussing on the status of Dharavi Redevelopment Project Shri S.V.R. Srinivas IAS, said, ‘40% of slum population of Mumbai is in Dharavi, and second largest slum is govandi. if we develop these, the dream of slum free Mumbai will fulfill. Cities are economic growth engines and that’s why people from all over India and Maharashtra are migrating to Mumbai.
Dharavi is a city in itself, Millions of people  are living in dharavi. Thus, Dharavi redevelopment project has bene declared as Vital Public Purpose Project by the  state government. This project requires huge amount of finance for its execution. Eligibility criteria is one of the important factor so we are creating Integrated Development for Dharavi. Once this project will get completed Dharavi will become the role model for all slum redevelopment projects. The project is being developed by Govt. of Maharashtra by holding 1/5th equity and by forming SPV model with a private entity,” he added.

In another session on Transport Solution
Shri. S.V.R. Srinivas IAS, Hon. Metropolitan Commissioner gave presentation on verious ongoing and Proposed project Under taken by MMRDA within MMR. He showcased CTS Study For MMR – 2021 – 41, Ongoing and proposed Mejor Transport projects in MMR.

” 40% OF State GDP is coming From MMR. Transportation infrastructure is the key of development , for that we have proposed 337 km Metro Lines in MMR. Also the very important project to connect Island city to Mainland is MTHL. After completion of this project it will make a lot of differences in the people’s life of MMR also the Maharashtra. Mumbai  will no longer remain as Island city, it will become the part of Mainland. MTHL will create growth in terms of Jobs etc. and will save time and will reduce pollution too, he said”

The major project in South Mumbai is Sewri-Worli connector about 5 km length is undertaken by MMRDA, for the traffic dispersal.  So the people coming from southern parts of Mumbai who will travels towards mainland by MTHL will have seamless connectivity. For Sewri – Worli connector project we have removed about 800 slums from Kamgar Nagar and Worli area in last 6 to 8 months and rehabilitated them, he added.”
