Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association’s strong foray in India marked by first ever India Leadership Summit and brings spotlight on advancing women

Internationally renowned global healthcare association to convene industry leaders to advance women in leadership in Indian healthcare

Mumbai, October 19th, 2024 – The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA), a global organization dedicated to furthering the advancement and impact of women in the business of healthcare, hosts its inaugural India Leadership Summit in Mumbai. This landmark event convened global healthcare executives and service providers, from companies including Novartis, Lilly, ZS Associates, GSK, Sanofi, Cognizant, Parexel, Syneos Health, MSD, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Fortrea come together to solicit a strong movement towards gender equity in healthcare leadership in India.

With a growing working population, India plays a vital role in HBA’s global strategy, offering unique opportunities for women to lead in the healthcare industry. The HBA India community has grown from 15 to over 450 members within three years, and the HBA India Leadership Summit is a testament to the devotion of volunteers and partners in advancing women in leadership roles.

Leaders also agreed that while equal representation is critical, it is also important to galvanize equal pay parity and prioritizing women’s health and wellness. Championing the movement for gender balance, HBA strongly believes that gender equality in leadership requires male support, and it is crucial for men to advocate for gender equality in leadership, particularly in male-dominated industries like India’s.

Mary Stutts, CEO of HBA, reflected on the event’s significance: “For nearly 50 years, the HBA has been dedicated to furthering the advancement and impact of women in the business of healthcare, with a vision of ‘creating women leaders for life.’ By convening global leaders for the HBA India Leadership Summit, we are helping ensure that women here are equipped with the skills, training, and support necessary to advance their careers.
