Dun & Bradstreet, the world’s leading provider of global business information, knowledge and insight, successfully organized ‘D&B India People Leader’s Summit 2015’, the most powerful confluence of people and businesses. This one-day summit was held at ITC Grand Central, Parel, Mumbai on Friday 22nd May, 2015 in esteemed presence of over 130 mid & senior level HR professionals and corporate leaders from Indian as well as global organizations. The focus of the summit was to offer a reputed platform to HR managers and leaders to discuss key issues outlining talent management and business strategy.
The participants focused on the narrative of organizational agility – which in the current context of efficiency, productivity in the workplace as well as intensive competition, holds far-reaching consequences. “We live in VUCA times (volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity). Organisations need to change to adapt themselves as per changing market requirements and it is no wonder that managing people and developing leaders remain key to all organisations.”, said Ms. Preeta Misra, Director – Learning Solutions, Dun & Bradstreet India in her welcome address.
Elaborating on organizational agility, Mr. Adil Malia, Group President – HR, Essar Group, said “Agility denotes a combination of age and flexibility; the younger a person – more receptive is he or she to change. Experience brings a burden of comfort and belief, which makes people harder to change. Therefore the question is how do we inspire the young and the old to remain fresh on their feet – to remain open to new ideas and above all – to work closely together in a fluid environment. The answer is to first invest into an orgnaisation-wide culture driven by the need to be agile in order to lead. In other words, managing people to invent a culture will be like putting the cart before the horse. It needs to be the other way round.”
Further, throwing light on the role of HR in highlighting the merits of agility within an organization, Mr. Sudhanshu Tripathi, Group President – Human Resources, Hinduja Group, said “Any organization does not become agile till its people are in sync with vision and mission. The role of HR therefore becomes the key to unlock competitive spirit and enhance agility in the system, without disrupting the organizational synergies. We need to have Happy and Productive Employees. This can only be attained by sensitizing people to the merits of agility – as an efficient tool to help achieve their aspirations. Helping your people to achieve their goals will definitely enable the organization to achieve its own – that too without any conflicts or friction.”
Also present at the seminar were Mr. Arun Sawhney, CEO & Managing Director, erstwhile Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited, Mr. Sandip Sen, Global Chief Executive Officer, Aegis Limited, Mr. Sudhakar Adapa, Founder & CEO, Himentor.
