This engaging and captivating festival started with Mr. Madhav Todi, the festival director thanking the audience & talking about its origin & objectives and how far has it reached since its first edition. This was followed by the Curator of the festival Viveck Vaswani introducing the guests and felicitating them with flower bouquets. Later on the dignitaries Ms. Rinki Roy Bhattacharya.( daughter of ace Director Bimal Roy), Sridhar Rangayan ( Director & Producer : Evening shadows), Ravi Gupta,CEO,Mukta Arts & Dean of Whistling Woods.Tushar Bhatia,(Music Director), Sushilkumar Agrawal,CEO,Ultra Media & Entertainment Group lit the inaugural lamp. Followed with this an exclusive documentary outlining the life and work of Bimal Roy was showcased to the audience
Rinki Bhattacharya then spoke in length about her father and his contribution to Indian Cinema, followed by Tushar Bhatia speaking about the types & genres of music that use to be used for Bimal Roy’s films. Sushilkumar Agrawal then added about the entire journey of the festival and how it has caught traction in India. Sridhar Rangayan then discussed about his film screening in the afternoon being an opening film and how the LGBT’s rights will be effected from yesterday’s Supreme Court’s verdict. The ceremony was concluded by Madhav Todi by giving vote of thanks and requesting everyone to have lunch and enjoy the films
The festival kick-started with Bimal Roy’s epic “ Sujata “ & Sridhar Rangayan’s “Evening Shadows” followed with 18 Films, 3 Master Class & Interactive seminars will be conducted to impart learning and an enriching experience for film students and enthusiasts.
Bimal Roy’s classics films like Devdas, Bandini, Madhumati and others. Marathi films like ‘Nude, Kachcha Limboo, Dr. Rakhmabai’ were screened. Other engaging activities included an interactive session with Director Ananth Mahadevan on his remarkable movie Life is Good and Dr. Rakhmabai. Director and Producer Viveck Vaswani conducted a thought provoking workshop with the media students. Other films like Iqbal, Joggers Park, Kashmakash ,“The Genius – Ramanujan” and the 1st Ukrainian English Animation film “The Stolen Princess’ will also be screened at the venue
