Salil Bhayani, a musician a composer and an orchestrator.

28 year old Salil is a composer, singer and pianist based in Los Angeles. He studied Film Scoring and Composition at Berklee College of Music, Boston.

He started learning Indian Classical Music at an early age of 6. His grandfather, a trained singer and a harmonium player was his first teacher. He learned from various gurus later on, including Dr. (Mrs) Ashwini Bhide Deshpande and Shree Sanjeev Chimmalgi.

Soon, while pursuing singing, he also composed his very first song at the age of 13. Since then, he has composed numerous songs in Gujarati, Hindi, and English languages. The urge to arrange his own compositions led him to his next major decision, which was learning western classical music formally. He started taking piano lessons, and appeared for 5 grades of Trinity Guildhall examinations. After finishing his degree from Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, he decided to pursue music full time. He then auditioned for Berklee College of Music, Boston. He studied Film Scoring and Composition while at Berklee.

While at Berklee, he scored a bunch of short films and video games. He also had the opportunity to perform at the Boston Symphony Hall with Oscar and Grammy winning composer A. R. Rahman at his doctoral ceremony. He moved to Los Angeles after graduation, and is working there on various films and video games.

Being mentored by composers like Lucas Vidal (composer for Fast and Furious 6), Griffin Boice, and other Hollywood composers, Salil has found himself working on various films, video games, songs and audiobooks across the globe. He is also producing mock-ups for Norman Ludwin, a renowned orchestrator (worked with Michael Giacchino on major Hollywood films like Jurassic World, Inside Out, etc.) and double bass player.

His compositions for the indie game Somewhere by studio Oleomingus received notice on the popular gaming website Rock, Paper, Shotgun. The game was recently featured at the prestigious Tribeca Game Festival. The link to the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_POQDPfEkv0

He has worked as a Music Assistant for a major feature film Lokmanya, based in Mumbai, and as a composer for various short films and documentaries in India and the United States.

He has had the opportunity to arrange tracks for an audio book, Dalai Llama: A Sacred Life. Salil also frequently scores soundtracks for a major audio book company for children, Karadi Tales.

His vision as a composer is to connect to his audiences through the emotive quality of music, which he believes comes through a delicate balance of craft, skill, and intuition.
