This Global Handwashing day, The We Foundation organises ‘Universal Hand Hygiene’ drive at Dharavi in association with World Health Organization and BMC

Mumbai, 11th October, 2022: Amidst the city gearing up for festivities after 2 years of COVID-19, a national NGO called The We Foundation is hosting a hand hygiene awareness drive in the densely populated region of Dharavi, as a reminder to not let our guard down. This awareness drive named ‘Care for Hands’ in partnership with VVF , and in association with the World Health Organization (WHO) and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will commence from today, i.e. 11th October to 16th October and will empower over 25,000 children and slum families with the importance of good hand hygiene practices for a healthy living.

The We Foundation is an NGO formed by highly committed professionals from prestigious social UN-WHO, INGO- Rotary and other noteworthy institutions with diverse experience in the development sector and the organization acts as a catalyst in driving change in the lives of the underprivileged families in India. In an endeavour to uplift urban, semi-urban and rural communities, the NGO is set to host a hand hygiene awareness drive in one of the most vulnerable communities like Dharavi to reinforce the importance of hand hygiene and how it can prevent a host of diseases. During this awareness drive, the organisation will also work closely with government bodies like BMC and internationally acclaimed health institutions like WHO to promote hand hygiene and climate for safety, and create a sustainable practice of hand hygiene for a healthy school and community.

Commenting on the initiative, Ms. Nabanita Banerjee, Director of The We Foundation, said, “Team The We Foundation has set out with the mission to uplift urban, semi-urban and rural families through the development and replication of reliable, cost-effective, and technology-based solutions. This awareness drive is a step towards reaching the goal of safety and quality with clean hands through collaboration with Corporates and Government bodies, and equipping school children and communities with knowledge on how a hand hygiene practice can help them prevent diseases and several such health contingencies. We have specially launched the campaign now as we are celebrating Global Handwashing Day on 15th October 2022 and it is in line with the Sustainable Development Goal 6 . . We are planning to expand not only in Mumbai but other parts of Maharashtra and nationally.
