Over 200 delegates from various schools across the city showcased their talent in the Greenwood High Model United Nations Conference held recently at its campus at Varthur Sarjapur Road. The event was inaugurated by an inspirational address by Mr. R K Mishra. The conference consisted of five committees – The Security Council, the Crisis Committee, ECOSOC, UNHRC and the UNODC.

The conference gave the young participants a taste of diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations with a series of debates, discussions and interactions which touched upon all issues that are currently being talked about in international forums.

MUN is an academic simulation of the various United Nations Organizations which makes delegates gain insight into the working of the world body and the dynamics of international relations by assuming the roles of UN representatives and members of other international bodies and national cabinets.

“In this era of globalization, learning about the world is more important than ever. Model UN activates students’ imagination and creativity. As the first ever MUN in the history of Greenwood High, the onus was laid on the shoulders of the twelfth graders, who were able to deliver their best. It was a truly unforgettable experience for both delegates and board members alike, with new found friendships and acquaintances. It was a rare opportunity for students to upgrade their knowledge in global politics”, said Ms. Niru Agarwal, Trustee, Greenwood High International School.

With the most contemporary and stimulating agendas, each delegate was given the opportunity to showcase their aptitude for debate, problem-solving and collaboration. Each session brought novel and sometimes even outrageous solution
