September 29, 2016, Bangalore: In order to deal with the ever remaining challenge of finding the right tradesperson for your regular household chores and at the same time generate more employability for the trained and government certified skilled workforce, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has signed an Agreement with UrbanClap Technologies India Pvt. Ltd. (URBANCLAP), one of the leading mobile marketplaces for local services.

UrbanClap will target absorption and verification of 300-500 candidates per month from NSDC’s skilled workforce database, onto their platform. The targeted job roles are plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and roles in the beauty sector. NSDC has a database of 60,000 candidates trained in such job roles, at present.

The Agreement was signed by Mr. Manish Kumar, MD & CEO, NSDC and Mr. Varun Khaitan, Co-founder, UrbanClap in the country’s capital.

Commenting on the partnership, Shri Manish Kumar from NSDC said, “Along with ensuring quality skill training, our focus is now clearly towards creating market linkages at every step for our skilled workforce . UrbanClap is a fast growing entrepreneurial venture which aims to bridge the demand and supply gap for local services. We have a job ready workforce which is young, efficient, trained and certified on industry standards. We are certain that this initiative will be of great help to both the citizens and the skilled workers.”

Welcoming the joint initiative, Mr. Varun Khaitan said, “We are very excited to partner with NSDC. There is a very strong synergy in the goals of both the organisations. NSDC has setup a fantastic program of skilling lakhs of Indians every year. For these professionals UrbanClap is a natural next step as our marketplace gives them a platform to get customers regularly and build an independent business. It is a win-win partnership which will be a big step towards national building and economic growth.”

Under the Agreement, NSDC will provide contact of trained candidates database via Skill Database Management System (“SDMS”) to UrbanClap, and UrbanClap will in turn validate such data and thereafter list validated candidates on the marketplace in order to provide such candidates opportunities to serve various customers which seek service of professionals. Through UrbanClap mobile App and website, individuals can search for the right trained/skilled professionals, for their work and get quality and standards in services.

As part of collaboration, UrbanClap will perform validation of the database of trained candidates and provide reports of the same to NSDC on regular basis. Information about the candidate’s certification, training partner and training centre details and their performance with the customers who have approached them via the Marketplace will create a feedback loop on the quality of training provided by NSDC’s training partners.
