Mumbai, June 4, 2022: Growing carbon emissions, rising sea levels, depleting wildlife, and most importantly climate change has serious implications on our environment and planet. As emissions and other factors impairing our environment increase, it is critical now more than ever to take necessary measures for a better and safer tomorrow. The theme for World Environment Day 2022 ‘Only One Earth,’ is a reminder of what is at stake – our one and only planet. In line with this theme, P.D Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre commemorated World Environment Day 2022 by partnering with a sand artist to create an interesting sand art. The sand art was used as a medium to remind citizens of the growing need to sustain and protect the environment.

In addition to this, children of the hospital staff painted the wall opposite the hospital with messages and their vision of a sustained environment and safer planet. The hospital also ran an internal campaign to encourage their staff to reduce use of  paper by celebrating this World Environment Day as No Paper Printing Day in their non-patient operations. With 24 trees being cut to produce 1 tonner of standard office paper whilst Recycling 1 ton of paper saves around 682.5 gallons of oil, 26,500 litres of water and 17 trees.

Highlighting the hospital’s commitment towards safe environment, Mr. Gautam Khanna, CEO, P.D Hinduja Hospital & MRC said, “As a responsible organization, we work towards bringing awareness and striking a balance in society. We are always trying our best to contribute to protecting nature and reducing our carbon footprint. This year, we aim to spread awareness through art forms, by engaging children – the future of our country and encouraging ourselves to continue doing more to safeguard our environment”

Every year, our environment is rapidly deteriorating. Predictions made a few decades ago are now our reality. It is high time that we realize the impact and come together for our home and make the necessary changes to achieve carbon neutrality so the possibility of tomorrow lives.
