The Fundraising Event targeted for immediate procurement of Mobile Mammography Bus for Cancer Screening draws 5000+ participants

 

Mumbai…June 18, 2022Olympic athlete Dutee Chand and Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad to flag off the 4th edition of Saquib Rizvi Memorial Cancer Awareness Half Marathon 2022 (SRMCAM 2022) being held on Sunday, 19th June 2022 at the MMRDA ground near BKC. Mumbai-based Rizvi Group’s Help Yourself Foundation – a non-governmental organization working for senior citizens, women, and child welfare – is organising the marathon to be held in different categories of runs, including 21K, 10K, 5K, and 3K in the form of a fun race, as well as a wheelchair race for the specially-abled participants. The SRMCAM 2022 is internationally registered and certified by Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) which is an association of the organisers of long-distance road running races in the United Kingdom.

This Fundraising Event which is targeted for immediate procurement of Mobile Mammography Bus for Cancer Screening has drawn over 5000+ participants all contributing towards the larger cause of cancer awareness and spreading the message “I CHOOSE HOPE” #rumicare #kickcancer. The Mobile Mammography Bus for Cancer Screening will introduce Tomosynthesis system (TBT) also known as “3D” mammography, a new type of digital x-ray mammogram which creates 2D and 3D pictures of the breasts for early detection of Breast Cancer with an intent to primarily serve women of Mumbai City and Distant Suburbs with mission to reduce fear of cancer and myths relating to it.

(Mrs) RUBINA AKHTAR HASAN RIZVI, Founders of Help Yourself Foundation & Rumi Care said, “It’s with great pleasure we are announcing that Ms. Dutee Chand, who is the current National Champion in the women’s 100 metres race and the first Indian to win a gold medal in 100m race in a global competition is the face and ambassador of the 4th Edition of THE SAQUIB RIZVI MEMORIAL CANCER AWARENESS (SRMCAM) – Half Marathon of 2022 taking place under the Umbrella body of Rizvi Group which is renowned in sectors i.e. The Rizvi Builders, The Rizvi Education Society Mumbai, Dr. AKHTAR RIZVI Educational Trust Allahabad & Help Yourself Foundation- A Charitable, Non-profit NGO. We also have the honour of having Hon’ Education Minister of Maharashtra Ms. Varsha Gaikwad doing the flag off for 3 kms run.

 

Many other women achievers like Ms. Varsha Nagre, BCCI match referee, Ms. Jemimah Rodrigues, our Rizvite who is an allrounder on the Mumbai Women’s Cricket team, Poorva Mathew who is a Judo Player and Gold medalist, Dr. Shilpa Serigar the medal prospect of Maharashtra is International Judo Refree and sports teacher at Rizvi College of Arts, Commerce & Science are supporting the cause. We celebrate female empowerment by recognising them as they are making a visible, positive and constructive difference in the country every day. Also with presence of such women we wish to celebrate every women participant in our Half Marathon.”

 

There are two components of early detection: early diagnosis and screening. As per WHO (World Health Organization) Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020, or nearly one in six deaths. More than one third of cancer cases can be prevented and another one third can be cured if detected early and treated properly to significantly improve cancer patients’ chances of survival. ‘I CHOOSE HOPE’ is the inspiring advocacy initiative by The Squib Rizvi Memorial Cancer Awareness Half Marathon. Apart from 5000 plus participants, this marathon event will also be attended and witnessed by several active NGOS, Doctors, Diplomats from several Countries, Health Care Professionals, Print & Electronic media, Corporates, Civil Society, communities, Spectators, Politicians and International Guests. Therefore, this Half Marathon event with resource appropriate strategies on Cancer can save millions of lives every year through Cancer Screening Camps, Diagnostics, Treatment Assistance, Research. By challenging – directly, vocally and unwaveringly –stigma and discrimination in all its forms by raising our voices to address cancer as an important health issue.

 

The 4th Edition of Late Saquib Rizvi Memorial Cancer Awareness Marathon will be held in association with broadcasting partners FM Radio 107.1 Mumbai (All India Radio), Doordarshan, Sahyadri, Zainabia Channel, Newsonair, RED 93.5 fm. Also supported by Mumbai Police, Mumbai Corporation of Greater Mumbai and Navy. Medical Partners being BSIDEU (Ambulance Services), ACI Cumballa Hospitals, Tata Hospital, Eyecare Diagnostic Center etc. We are also supported by Sports Timing Solutions, Decathlon, Bon Voyage Tours & Travels, The Resort Mumbai, Fast up, Yoga Bar, Cancro and Kaivalyadhama.
