Minister of State Defence Shri Ajay Bhatt Inaugurates ‘MET & HTS 2022’, a Global Conference & Exhibition for Manufacturing in the materials engineering Sector

Mumbai, November 02, 2022: Shri Ajay Bhatt, Minister of State for Defence inaugurated ‘MET & HTS 2022’ on Wednesday, at the Bombay Exhibition Centre at Goregaon in Mumbai. Also present on this occasion Shri UdaySamant, Minister of Industries, Govt. of Maharashtra.

The global meet is focussed on the latest technological advancements in the DEFENCE, TRANSPORT and ENERGY sectors.This Materials & Engineering conference focuses on new materials and process developments, theories and computational models to understand materials.

MET (MATERIALS, ENGINEERING and TECHNOLOGIES) is the most comprehensive business platform across the manufacturing value chain for the Defence, Transport and Energy sectors. MET showcases the latest and key developments in these sectors to the global audience. This is of great significance since India’s engineering R&D market is expected to be worth US$42 billion by the end of 2022.

The Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows into India’s mechanical and engineering industries is around US$3.56 billion, as per data released by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). The Government has allocated US$92.22 billion for the infrastructure sector (Including Transport and Energy) and the allocation in the defence sector was raised to US$45.57 billion.

This exhibition is truly international, as 350 exhibitors covering 10,000 Sq.mtrs, 120 speakers from India & Abroad, besides 600 delegates from all over have congregated on a single platform.

The Innovation Pavilion at the exhibition is of great interest to participants, since it is hosting and displaying products, services and models by start-ups, young entrepreneurs, students from IIT’s and other engineering colleges. The Student Outreach Program encouraged final year students from Metallurgical Engineering stream to find their passion by participating in this event.

Mr Pradeep Goyal, Chairman, Organizing Committee, MET & HTS 2022 said “Today the technology-driven world is leading towards competitive economies.” He further stated that the Heat treatment has changed beyond recognition, and these changes have been driven by a better understanding of the underlying science, increasing demand of quality products, and social factors such as environmental and sustainability considerations.

He further added that this conference is going to focus on “The development of Materials Science and Engineering and Technology”. The Theme of the conference will ensure that all the Stake Holders, such as the Industry, Academia, R&D professionals, Government, all come together on one single platform to discuss the new Material Developments and new Technologies.”

“ASM International India Chapter, regularly conducts technical programs on the Emerging Materials and Technologies and heat treatment. The three-daybiennial international conference with the Theme: ‘EMERGING MATERIALS FOR DEFENSE AND INFRASTRUCTURE’. has drawn Eminent speakers from India and Abroad who will deliberate and exchange huge ideas on key issues related to these sectors.

According to Mr. I.P. Wadhwa, Managing Worker, Tafcon, ” This exhibition will be an ideal platform for display and launches of new initiatives, products and technologies, establishing joint ventures, developing and renewing international and regional contacts.”

Some of the participants including Governments Departments and Industry leaders are Defence PSUs, DRDO, Railways, CSIR, DST, JSW, Reliance Industry Limited Triton EV, TATA group, Mahindra and Mahindra, Bharat Electronics and others.
Other dignitaries included Dr Samir Kamat, Chairman DRDO, Vice Admiral R Swaminathan DGNP, Mumbai, Western Naval Command, Air Vice Marshal S K Jain, Major General Rakesh Manocha, Shri S P Shukla, President SIDM.
