MDIS Launches New Skills-Based Programmes and Nursing School

24 August 2017 – Among the Indian students who wish to pursue higher education abroad, Singapore has always been the preferred destination, and Singapore’s MDIS has been topping the list among the most reputed educational institutions. The institute has plethora of courses to offer in Management and Engineering fields and is known to introduce new courses in the emerging domains. Now, the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) has introduced a diverse range of 22 new programmes across all its academic disciplines. The new programmes will have heavy emphasis on vocational skills development, and coupled with an expanded academic progression pathway, will nurture future-ready graduates and enhance their employability.

MDIS also recently established a new School of Nursing, dedicated to the training and education of nurses pursuing their post registration degrees. It is the first Private Education Institute (PEI) in Singapore to have a dedicated Nursing school with facilities to equip nursing students with industry-relevant and competency-based knowledge and skills. The Institute has partnered with Edinburgh Napier University in UK, ranked among the Top 5% of universities by The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, to offer a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Top-Up) programme, which launched with an inaugural batch of 70 students in May.

Additionally, in the pipeline are more skills-based programmes covering nine key academic areas – Engineering, Fashion, F&B (Food & Beverage), Health and Safety, Healthcare Management/Support, Life/Health Sciences, Information Technology, Leadership and People Management, and Media and Communications. These programmes are expected to be rolled out over the next three years will provide students, adult learners and working professionals with increased opportunities to learn new skills and upgrade/enhance existing skills to maximise their future readiness.

Our academic growth will ensure our graduates continue to possess the required skills and maintain their relevance and demand in the industry.”

 

The Institute has introduced International/Foundation Diplomas and Higher Diplomas to extend and provide a comprehensive academic progression pathway for students. It will also be introducing programmes of rising popularity like a National/Higher Certificate in Cookery, and short skills-based courses in Fashion like pattern making, fashion draping and sewing techniques, and Media and Communications like pitching and promoting.

More than 100 programmes and integrated learning experiences are now offered across the Singapore, Tashkent, India and Malaysia campuses, allowing students to gain international exposure and multi-city experiences.

MDIS celebrated 60 years of education and training excellence last year. Today, it is one of Singapore’s oldest not-for-profit professional institute for lifelong learning offering quality, industry-relevant transnational education, in partnership with top global universities. Its programmes keep pace with global industry needs, in the areas of Business and Management, Engineering, Fashion Design, Information Technology, Health and Life Sciences, Mass Communications, Psychology and Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management.
