Mumbai, 17 October 2019: Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has joined hands and signed an MoU with Thane Janta Sahakari Bank’s (TJSB) employee union unit – Sahakari Bank Adhikari Karmachari Yojana (affiliated to Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh – BMS) to encourage tourism and provide discounts as part of their offerings. The tie up is for a 12 month contract and was signed in the presence of Mr. Abhimanyu Kale – Managing Director, MTDC and Mr. Rajesh Deodhar – President – Bank Adhikari Karmachari Yojana –TJSB.

This is for the first time that MTDC has tied up with a co-operative bank as a part of their plan to increase the footfall of tourists and to enhance the image of Maharashtra as a premier tourist destination. The association will allow the members of the TJSB’s employee unit to make bookings at MTDC’s resorts at a discounted rate of 20% during weekdays and 10 % during weekends.

Mr. Abhimanyu Kale – Managing Director, MTDC commented, “At MTDC it has always been our continuous endeavor to come up with innovative ideas to promote tourism and the tie up is first of its kind with a co-operative bank which will pave way for many more banks in future. We are preparing a platform for not just banks but also for other financial institutions as well and this is just the beginning. We are pleased to have partnered with TJSB’s Sahakari Bank Adhikari Karmachari Yojana. ”

Mr. Rajesh Deodhar – President – Bank Adhikari Karmachari Yojana – TJSB said, “In aggregation with the honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji’s appeal on the occasion of Independence Day to the citizens to visit minimum 15 domestic tourist destinations by 2022, we decided to go with this association which would allow the members of our employee union to take a break from their daily working schedules. And MTDC was the apt choice as they have a plethora of offerings in terms of resorts and locations across Maharashtra.”

Over the years, MTDC has played a key role in protecting the multi-faceted culture and heritage of Maharashtra among visitors from across the country and the world. Acting as a nodal agency for tourism, MTDC runs holiday resorts, hotels, motels, restaurants, and produces publicity and promotional material for tourists. It also organizes festivals at heritage sites and places of historical and tourist attractions in the state. Some of the major festivals include the Bird Festival in Pune, Grape Festival at Malshej Ghat, Elephanta Festival in Mumbai, Sarang Kheda Chetak Festival and many more.
