Mumbai, 18th August 2016:  At an evening, which celebrated the individual and bold spirit of a woman, designer Rebecca Dewan debuted her label and couture line, a beautiful narration of four storylines in hues that mirror the different experiences and phases in a woman’s life. Each story displayed a unique colour palette and designs, which reflected the poetic love story between a woman and her emotions.

Set in the Astor Ballroom of the St.Regis Mumbai, the fashion show saw 60 stunning creations by the designer adorned by leading models Tapur Chatterjee, Candice Pinto, Deepti Gujral, Sanea Sheikh and Archana Akhil Kumar to name a few. Each piece was created as an ode to the many inspirational women Rebecca has encountered over the years. Former Miss Universe and showstopper Sushmita Sen, looked exquisite in an off-shoulder structured gown, featuring 3d flowers made of leather, reflective of her strength as a woman.

Talking about her debut collection Rebecca Dewan said, “I believe that a woman is an incredible creation with multiple facets, and you can see the elements of her emotions in the creations we showcased today. Life is dramatic and so are my pieces, which are totally avant-garde and depict lifelike complexities through bright embellishments, wicked drapes and sultry silhouettes. Dreamlike bridal lehengas are designed to create timeless memories. I have used a mix of lucknowi and benaresi fabrics and complimented it with a combination of traditional and modern techniques such as applique, 3d, as well as delicate handwork for the modern spirited woman of today.”

The talented duo Kedhar Gawde and Shamita Singha beautifully translated the vision of the designer on stage through a theatrical fashion choreography, which incorporated a fusion of jazz and instrumental music.

The front row saw a mix of fashion stalwarts, Bollywood celebrities and the crème da le crème of Mumbai.

The collection is synonymous with different chapters of a woman’s life and is exquisitely translated into Rebecca’s designs. Dresses, sarees, lehengas, tops, jackets and gowns embellished with Mukaish and Resham embroidery, luxurious Swarovski and crystal embellishments add an element of grandeur to the garments.

The designs display gorgeous silhouettes in traditional Lucknowi and Benarasi fabrics, flowy pieces in pure satins, chiffons and georgettes that showcase a feminine side as well as thicker fabrics used for structured garments that reveal the confidence of a modern woman. The garments exhibit magnificence through the amalgamation of modern and traditional techniques such as appliqué, lazer cut, handwork, heat setting and 3d; the ombre effect on the garments is a poetic affair of colors. The cut and designs of the garments wonderfully accentuate the delicate frame of a woman.

Rebecca Dewan’s collection celebrates womanhood in all her forms, her unpredictable emotions, scars and achievements.

Rebecca Dewan is a style icon and fashion entrepreneur. She ventured into mainstream designing with her high profile couture label due to the sheer love and passion she has for it. The brand impresses upon contemporary couture, classic and chic, but more importantly it stands for complete and independent woman, quality being one of the most important facets.

The haute couture label targets the less price-sensitive woman, with its own flagship store in Bandra, Mumbai. She believes in promoting regional handicrafts and workmanship from rural parts of India like Benares, Lucknow, and the appliqué and patchwork of Gujarat, amongst other initiatives.

Rebecca is extremely experimental with her designs. She effortlessly displays a contemporary edge to high-end ethnic couture, and is constantly reinventing and redefining the fashion boundaries through her designs, especially the silhouettes. Fearless to fuse different fabrics with unconventional embroideries results into her subtly extravagant style
