Designers Nishka Lulla and Nikhil Thampi with models at Fashion Talks by Lakmé Fashion Week at WeWork BKC
Mumbai, 29th November 2017: Taking the lead once again in creating conversations on fashion and the industry, Lakmé Fashion Week today hosted the first ever ‘Fashion Talks’ at WeWork office spaces in BKC Mumbai.
The country’s leading young designers, Nikhil Thampi and Nishka Lulla together with IMG Reliance’s Head of Fashion Jaspreet Chandok came together to discuss various facets of fashion and creativity in India today. Well known stylist Ekta Rajani was the moderator of the panel discussion.
Designer Nikhil Thampi spoke about his journey from a psychology student to one of the country’s most distinguished designers, having dressed the leading ladies of Bollywood. Nishka Lulla shared her story of learning and growing as a designer with her mother, designer Neeta Lulla’s creative influence. Both Nishka and Nikhil shared their experiences, spoke about the challenges they faced as young designers, their learnings and their vision for the future of fashion design. The designers showcased three iconic looks each from their collections.
A leading, experienced voice from the business side of design and retail in India, Mr. Jaspreet Chandok added to the understanding of the climate of creativity and entrepreneurship in India today. It was an engaging session during which Ekta Rajani egged the panelists on to cover varied topics including retail trends to brand collaborations and celebrity styling.

I think the initiative was highly fruitful as it is great for aspiring designers to hear about the industry directly from individuals who have been a part of it. I think it was a great workshop!”
Nlikhil Thampi, Designer said, “It’s been six years since I have been a part of the fashion industry. My career’s starting point was at Lakmé Fashion Week, so I have an emotional attachment with the platform. Everyone perceives fashion industry to be very glamourous, but very few know of the challenges we face. We got together for the Fashion Talks at We Work in association with a platform like Lakmé Fashion Week to share our insights and experiences first hand.”
