Minister of State in the PMO Jitendra Singh, while speaking at the “Agenda Aaj Tak” conclave on Friday, said Indian forces were giving befitting reply to all ceasefire violations from Pakistan. Taking about media reports regarding change in guard in the Jammu & Kashmir government, he said whether Mehbooba Mufti would be new Chief Minister would be decided by PDP-BJP coordination committee.

“We have adopted ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards terrorism…Our forces are giving befitting reply to firing and infiltration attempts on our borders. We have not seen such action in many years. People living in border areas are happy as they do not have to vacate their houses and flee. Morale of our forces and citizens is very high,” Mr. Singh said.

On talks about Mehbooba Mufti replacing his father Mufti Mohammad Saeed as Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mr. Singh said leadership change issue would be discussed at the PDP-BJP coordination committee formed at the time of government formation in the state. “The PDP-BJP government was formed to carry out development agenda for the state…The state government is right on track,” he added.

Speaking at the event, Congress leader Jitin Prasada said there was no consistency in policies being pursued by the BJP-led NDA government, particularly on matter related to Pakistan. Talks are being held with Pakistan without taking political parties and nation in confidence. He said the Narendra Modi government has failed to curb infiltration on Indo-Pak border. He termed the PDP-BJP alliance in Jammu and Kashmir as “opportunistic”.
