Goa Institute of Management hosted the fifth edition of ‘Anveshan 2017’

Panaji, February 2017: The Goa Institute of Management (GIM) organized its national level HR Summit, Anveshan 2017, recently. Anveshan is a forum where management students across the country get an opportunity to interact with experts in the industry and showcase their skills in the field of human resources. The theme for the symposium this year was Reinvent the Ordinary.

Two eminent personalities from the industry were invited to share their thoughts on this occasion and speak on the theme Reinvent the Ordinary, Yuvaraj Srivastava, the Chief Human Resource Officer at MakeMyTrip.com and Rahul Yadwadkar, Sr. Vice President and Head-Business Processes at Reliance Energy. Yuvraj took the students through his corporate journey in the industry and shared his perspective of a corporate HR Manager. Rahul, an external trainer in the field, conducted a workshop on coaching and leadership for the students of GIM.

Following the lectures, the event also showcased, Samiksha, a National Level case study competition at Anveshan 2017. Management students displayed their analytical skills, and problem solving ability in front of students and professors, and more importantly, representatives from the industry. The event received close to 110 entries. Amongst these, the top sixinstitutions were selected to make a presentation to an eminent panel of judges. All the six teams battled it out for the top position and a cash prize of Rs.50,000. The winning team was ‘Foxtrot’ represented by Arjun N and Akshay Singh from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Puneand the runner’s up spot was bagged by team ‘Pheonix’ represented by Rahul Royand and Pulkesh Mittal from Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development, Pune. Anveshan is the first of its kind HR event in the state of Goa.

Margdarshan, a stimulation game added a new flavor to Anveshan this year. An industry-student mentorship program where the mentors helped the teams in the game by guiding the students on how to go about it. Industry experts on campus were Vishakha Kharangate, Head-HR, Crompton Greaves, Isha Nadkarni, Management Consultant, KPMG Advisory Services Pvt Ltd, Dattaraj Samant, Management Staff-HR, CIPLA, Gaury Salelkar, Assistant Manager – HR, Teva and Waman Pednekar, Handling HR Portfolio for South Asia, Colorcon

Anveshan 2017 ended with a profoundly insightful workshop on ‘An Introduction to Rational Emotive Behaviour Theraphy (REBT) and its application in Coaching and Organizational Development’ by Rahul Yadwadkar. This workshop provided the participants a basic knowledge of REBT, a therapy for self-development, education, industry and disorders that will help in corporate careers.

All in all, Anveshan took students on a thriving ride of unlearning conventional wisdom and harboring a newoutlook on human resource management.
