Columbia Asia Hospital, Whitefield in association with FORCE GW organizes a Diabetes Walkathon in Whitefield

Bangalore: People with diabetes must be extremely careful when it comes to their health. According to the International Diabetes Federation South-east Asia, there were 69.1 million cases of diabetes in India in 2015. Having diabetes can put you at risk of various other health problems like heart attacks, strokes, kidney diseases, loss of vision and nerve damage. Doctors say that it is critical that diabetic patients get themselves checked regularly as early detection and preventive measures can go a long way in dealing with the disease.

Keeping this in mind, Columbia Asia Hospital, Whitefield in association with FORCE-GW (Federation of Resident Welfare Association, Communities and Establishments of Greater Whitefield) is organizing a Diabetes Walkathon on Sunday 6th November, 2016. The walkathon aims at creating awareness among people about diabetes andalso brings Communities together to inspire them to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle,

The event will be held in association with Big Basket and Axis Bank.

Honourable Sri. P C Mohan, MP Bangalore Central and Honourable Sri Arvind Limbavalli, MLA Mahadevapura constituency have kindly consented to be Chief Guests at this event and will be jointly inaugurating the 3 km walkathon and the Diabetic village established by Columbia Asia Hospitals for the event. The Walkathon will start at Seegehalli Government school, Whitefield-Hoskote Road and will cover routes on the way.

“We are very excited to conduct the second edition of the Walkathon. It is our twin endeavour to promote awareness on this ‘silent killer’ – Diabetes and bring Communities together in this fast-growing area of Whitefield. Our partnership with Columbia Asia, BigBasket and Axis Bank in this edition of the Walkathon will provide the right platform to realise our goals of a healthy environment for the people in this locality” said Lingaraj Urs, President, FORCE GW.

“Diabetes is a growing concern in India today. Most of the places around Seegehalli Government Schools are rural areas where the awareness about the disease is still very low. With this walkathon, we aim to create awareness about the disease and the importance of early intervention especially in the grassroots level,” said Ms. Santy Sajan, General Manager, Columbia Asia Hospital, Whitefield.
