Brands helping India breathe through second wave of pandemic

While almost all brands are coming forward to contribute as much as possible, some of these brands including MG Motor India, Paytm, Zomato and Delhivery are doing their bit to ensure supply of Oxygen. Here’s how:

Diverted Industrial Oxygen to Healthcare Segment

MG Motor India, under its community service umbrella MG SEWA decided to close its plant and conserve industrial oxygen so that it can be diverted to the healthcare segment.

The carmaker has also joined hands with Devnandan Gases Pvt. Ltd. in Gujarat recently. The association has increased the production of oxygen by 15% per hour at one of the latter’s plants in Vadodara within a week of their partnership. MG further aims to increase it by 50% soon.

MG has recently announced that it is providing lunch to families of patients at GMERS Hospital. At present, MG’s Hector Ambulances continue to serve doctors and medical staff during their service to the nation. The carmaker is also importing oxygen concentrators for the affected family members of its employees.

Raising Funds through #OxygenForIndia and “India Needs Oxygen” Initiatives

India’s top digital payments platform Paytm under its initiative #OxygenForIndia initiative went ahead to raise Rs 14 crore to donate oxygen concentrators across India. Paytm matched all contributions received through this initiative. The oxygen concentrators were donated to government hospitals. They had partnered with the American India Foundation (AIF) and Elevation Capital to collectively match the user contributions.

Zomato, the very popular food delivery and restaurant aggregator app has the Zomato Feeding India not-for-profit which now has the “India Needs Oxygen” initiative accepting donations. This is Live in the Zomato app now and you can donate Rs 100, Rs 1000 or Rs 2000 whereas the website allows you to choose any amount you wish to donate. Zomato is working with Delhivery to source oxygen concentrators for hospitals and families in need. Feeding India by Zomato have a target for raising Rs 50 crore to help out with oxygen.
