BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav on Thursday said the Jammu and Kashmir government will soon begin negotiations with Kashmiri Pandit leaders to ensure their return to the Valley with safety and dignity.“Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed also wants composite townships should come up for Kashmiri Pandits…Pandit leaders have been called to meet the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister to discuss the issue,” Mr. Madhav said at Aaj Tak’s Manthan programme organised to mark Modi government’s one year in office.

Mr. Madhav lauded Prime Minister Narender Modi for giving new direction to India’s foreign policy with focuses on “greater engagement” with world leaders. He also said time has come to discuss contentious issues related to border disputes and water sharing with India’s neighbours and this was what the Prime Minister was doing.

On the issue of Ram Mandir, he said talks were on with various parties concerned to resolve the issue. He also said the nation needs to debate conversion issue and there should be no conversion with force, allurement and enticement.

Mr. Madhav said Mr. Modi’s one year in power has brought optimism in people. “Last one year has been journey from despair to hope. The government’s priority is peace and progress,” he added.
