Mumbai, October 2016: The Indian auto industry is one of the largest in the world. The industry accounts for 7.1 per cent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employs about 19 million people both directly and indirectly.

The automotive industry is on the verge of a major transformation as the customers are getting well informed and sophisticated which leads to having multi-skilled personnel at dealerships. The Automotive Manufacturers are moving to self-controlled business models by introducing company owned and operated sales points and service outlets.

Since the employment opportunities in the automotive business is increasing in multiple folds, six decades old brand Bafna Motors has joined hands with ITM Skills Academy to train fresh professionals. ITM Skill Academy (ISA) is an initiative of ITM Group of Institutions, which provides end-to-end solution to its partner organizations from talent acquisition to training and delivering a trained professional. ITM Skills Academy is a NSDC approved partner and till date has Sourced – Trained and Deployed more than 28 thousand fresh professionals in various industries such as BSFI, Retail, Healthcare, Hospitality and now Automotive.

Both these organizations have teamed-up to provide pre-trained fresh manpower to the automotive Industry, by setting up training academies across the wide network available of ITM Group of Institutions. ITM leverages its 22 years of experience in targeted acquisitions of sourcing Manpower to create a pipeline of candidates through multiple channels such as colleges, NGOs, Employment exchanges, BPOs, Career Guide, BTL, ATL, Web-based marketing etc.

The vision of this partnership is to bridge the gap between available jobs and aspiring fresh manpower. Bafna Motors, with a 6 decades experience in the field of Automotive Industry employs more than 2500 people and sells around 15000 vehicles every year.

To comment on this initiative, Mr. Anupam Sinha Director, Special Initiatives, ITM Group of Institutions said, “The industry requires young, dynamic fresh talent, and our plan is to pre-train these young aspirants in the field of Automotive Industry. This will reduce the training efforts and time taken by the Manufacturers and the Dealerships to a great extent, which will enable them to focus more on strategic initiatives rather than operational issues. Our automotive business programs, shall prepare individuals for professional and essential positions in the automotive industry’s dealerships Sales, After Sales and allied services.

He further added; students will be provided with opportunities to explore possibilities of successful careers and entrepreneurship within the automotive industry. The programs will be focused on introduction to Automotive Dealership Management courses and which explore various facets of the automotive industry. The on-the-job work experience is a vital component of the program allowing students to confirm their career choice and to develop appropriate skills to establish their career.”

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Arjun Bafna, Director, Bafna Motors said “Our connect and vintage in the Industry shall benefit in building the most apt programs by which the graduates will have the skills, knowledge, and experience to assume a position in a broad range of organizations within the automotive industry, such as Commercial Vehicles, Passenger Cars and Two wheeler industries. The outcomes of pre-trained fresh graduates are plenty. He/She performs better, show early results, has increased confidence, has the right expectations, is more acceptable within the system, gets independent and stable financially and becomes a true role model. We need to slowly bring to an end to the “Buddy Process” practiced currently, as it builds negative perception on new hires most of the time. I personally believe in ‘Do as you do the best, and not Do as I say’.
